Cook asked if he should be giving more minutes to Norwood and Pigott or are they on the way out.

Cook spoke at length about Pigott and completely blanked Norwood.

Whatever people think about him, I find a lot of the bile you read on here about him pretty unsavoury and 'not very Ipswich'.

Whatever he is off the pitch, and that's probably more complex than anyone on here knows, on the pitch he never let the club down. He's always given it 110% and scored 22 goals in 44 starts, which is, by anyone's standards a good return.

Still think he has something to add to this team. Especially if we can't keep Bonne.

What did he say about Pig? I wouldn’t be surprised if, of all the players we signed who aren’t in the team, he has the hump.

He said he has apologised to Pigott for not giving him more pitch time. It was notable that he completely avoided saying anything about Norwood. I would have thought that if he was unwell, he would have said that he was currently out and had been playing an important role off the bench before that.

It seemed very notable that the question was very much about Norwood (mentioned by name) and the answer was only about Pigott (and then the midfield attacking options and ended with saying he is working with Edwards to get goals and assists).

Agreed. He gets a lot of undeserved criticism. Maybe some of his "bantz" is not to the taste of you pure in heart Ipswich supporting saints, but his performances on the pitch were (are) never less than 100%, which is more than can be said of other players you held in higher esteem last season.

I'm aware of his goal scoring antics.

Presumably it is something else to which you refer, of which I may not have knowledge.

I assume whatever it is, it must be worse than Francis Jeffers' past antics?

I've made my point about Jeffers previously, and that still stands.

I am judging on personal matters as the club is keen on culture. That Culture shouldn't include people like Norwood. don't care if he scored 100 goals.

Both, if I was caught drink driving I could easily be fired from my job.

Paul Cook's dad died a while ago and I would have expected him not to be on top form with decision making, tactics, managing the team for a while. I would judge on personal matters.

With regard to Jeffers if I was going for a new job I would have to declare if I had been caught drink driving previously. They would then decide whether to hire me or not. If I then did it again whilst in the new job they could fire me!

For all the talk about the community trust and building bonds between club and supporters last night - having someone convicted of drink driving whilst on the books will almost undoubtedly have some consequences at work.

Interesting to see that Jeffers is being put up to the plate on this one. Yes, he has a history and one that I don't particularly like - but its historical events vs ones done in the current day while the new owners/manager are in charge.

Of course, this could be an assumption based on a fact - but it is easy to see why it is a plausible assumption and not 'bile' being spat at a player.

If we put that aside - there is the footballing reasons. Norwood is not reliable, and maybe not through any fault of his own. He went injured a number of times when our biggest issue was scoring goals. It's impossible to be the main man, when your body is betraying your ability.

Whether he adds something to the team or not, Norwood is done here.

I will be amazed if some sort of agreement isn't made with him in January.

Is that for you to decide, though? It's not.

It's for Cook, Ashton and O'Leary...and whoever else i.e those involved in the club.

'Creating a culture' could mean anything, it doesn't just mean getting rid of anyone with a questionable personality. It could well do, but you have no idea.

I understand the point about the difference between past misconduct and current behaviour. That is a good point, well made.
However, I dispute your "he went injured" comment. "He went" implies some deliberate motive on his part, which is unsubstantiated.
Also, he clearly will not be the "main man" in our current set-up, but he still has a part to play and could do a job. It's premature to write him off completely.
Having said all this, I do not expect him to feature tonight, and therefore it would seem that he is no longer part of Cook's plans, which I personally think is a shame.
I sincerely hope that the current crop of first team favourites do not make any mistakes in their own personal lives. Or would they perhaps not face the same disapprobation from management and fans as Norwood has?

I did say through no fault of his own - in fairness.

Norwood has always been used to being 'main man' before coming here - and undoubtedly was signed to be our main striker. I just don't see him being content with anything less than that.

We need better than him - he needs to go somewhere where he can be the hero. That's how I see it.
