The most bizarre for me is MK Dons so far away in comparison to many but still local.

Here we go again. How do you know what people would look for? Not every Town fan buys into the vNorwich thing.

Just saw a poll for "Are Cambridge Utd matches derbies" a lot voted no on 17:47 - Nov 10 by J2BLUE | Absolute nonsense. If there was another MK Dons situation and suddenly Bury St Edmunds had a team in our league that would be no more a derby to me than Accrington. A derby needs two things. Proximity and genuine rivalry. You can say what you like about our current situation but our head to head with Norwich is completely even at the moment as far as i'm aware. They are our rivals and they were still our rivals when they were in league one. I couldn't give a damn about Cambridge, Colchester, Peterborough or MK Dons. It's not a derby as there's no rivalry. It's like commentators saying Fulham/Chelsea is a derby. Geographically yes but it's not a true derby. Surprised you need this explaining really. Any Ipswich fan should just get it. Sorry to bring you down to earth - but Peterborough and Norwich are in higher divisions so are not rivals and look down on Franchise FC as nonentities well off their radar - the only local derbies we have at present are indeed Cambridge and our fellow franchisees in Milton Keynes . Just because you willfully misunderstand the concept of a local derby doesnt alter reality

But then I've never heard a rendition of "Hark now hear the Cambridge sing" break out at Portman Road. Norwich on the other hand, that's been busted out a few times.

Well if they didn't then they aren't town fans. ;) So of all clubs you'd look for ipswich v Cambridge over Ipswich v Norwich? All clubs on level playing field. Same player levels etc. All on 0 points. [Post edited 10 Nov 2021 18:06]

Agree. Even without Norwich it wouldn't occur to me to look for the games against the others. I looked for Sunderland and Sheff Wed this season. The rest were irrelevant.

We're not all in the same division. If we were and you would look for Cambridge first because you consider them our biggest rivals then fair enough but you are in a tiny minority.

Its nonsense on your behalf J2 to be so blinkered , like I said its geographical location that determines what a derby is not fans personal opinion on what it should be! Norwich are our biggest rivals not our only rivals! We've never been bothered about Cambridge and Colchester but they have rivalry for us so I'm sure their fans would argue its a derby and they have far more in bragging rights on occasions they do beat us than we ever even think about having upon beating them, MK Dons were created then plunged into East Anglia, we may not like it but we have to accept they are part of our region!! I don't need it explaining, I never have in my 44yrs of supporting Town, this is about having a different view on what a derby match actually is, my personal opinion on it is irrelevant to the fact!! Also I have at no point said anything about "our current situation" because again it has nothing to do with my post, feel free to pick others up on it though, those whom have actually said or eluded to our current situation though!!

I have been at several home matches against Cambridge and Colchester over the years and whilst the song you delightfully remastered has indeed never been echoed through the terraces of Portman Road, I assure you songs that can be considered as banter between local rival supporters have indeed been been sung to both the afore mentioned teams!! For example to Col Utd when in the championship and knowing how much they hate us there were choruses of "We don't even care about you" and "You mean fcuk all to us"on many occasion so to say there is no or never has been any local rivalry to whom we see as lesser clubs is pure ignorance!! I appreciate some younger posters may not have been going to PR in 2006 and may be totally unaware of this happening so obv not aimed at any of you. [Post edited 11 Nov 2021 4:54]
