I know we can hardly talk.. 18:51 - Dec 26 with 3450 viewsFightingEssex

But Norwich has to be the most pointless club to ever bounce up and down the leagues. There’s absolutely nothing there in that team worth supporting or getting excited about is there? People bang on about how well run they are, but surely being humiliated nationally every other season isn’t that great of a job? It’s a bit like if we experienced 94/95 every other season for the best part of 5 years now. I know we are as low as we have ever been, but I can’t say that I’d want their fate much either. Even Watford give it a go at least, Norwich take a year off in that league.

Exactly this. What’s the point in being a yo-yo club club between the PL and championship when compared to being a mid table L1 side.

Can’t agree more. Who would want to win the Championship every other season when you could have 20 years of decline and nothing ever to cheer about.

You do wonder why they sacked Farke. They have gone with the same with Smith. Take the money and reset next year. Seems odd to waste some of it on paying him off ... especially after he had finally won them a game.

But still, they have a long way to go before they can rival our plight over the last 20 years. Not quite as far as how far they would have to rise to come close to rivalling our plight over the previous 40, mind.

Oh for us to get back to being competitive at the same level as them or better, though.

I would laugh at them getting dicked 5-0 if we were playing parks football and they were playing in the Champions League Final.

Against Bayern.

So you would take experiencing 1994/95 every other year just to win the Championship and make no progress while doing so? Is winning what is the second division a couple of times worth that level of routine national humiliation? A team that can’t even be bothered to show up? It’s absolutely embarrassing.

The “well run” Norwich stuff is a myth. They’ll fail to get promoted at some point, lose key players, have a couple of bad seasons and could easily end up where we are. Sunderland and Bolton used to be regular yo-yo teams who had much better runs in the Premiership then Norwich ever had and look at them now…

They are a joke of a club. Luck will run out soon.

But there is a proportionate difference between consistently failing to turn up in the Premier League and consistently failing to turn up in League One. There is a proportionate difference between embarrassing yourself by losing 5-0 at home to Arsenal and embarrassing yourself by losing 2-0 at Barrow. Think back, when fans ran into Carrow Road when they were losing 7-1 at home to Colchester in this league, they went on to win the division. Whenever they suffer a bad result outside of the top flight, they win the next game and keep winning them. When we suffer a bad result - and ours always come outside the top flight - we (checks notes) draw our next game and then we crash out of the FA Cup to a side that were non-league when we were in the Championship, but never fear, our heroes will make up for it with another stylish home draw - because anything more than that would be exhausting for everybody.

I hope Norwich's luck does run out soon, but over the last decade or so, at least they've made their own luck. All Ipswich Town have ever done over the same period is make excuses.

No matter how much we loath them I just cannot indulge in this irrational notion that they are a badly run club, the evidence points to the exact opposite in comparison to our “progress” over the last 15 years.

Potentially, this could be the beginning of the Nodge ending there years of bouncing up and down leagues.

They got Rid of Farke, someone who couldn't do it in the prem, but his football was too good for the championship. They've replaced him with Smith, who spent a fortune to get Villa up, ( NET spend not that high, but Nodge tend to keep as much as possible when they go back to Championship, so you can imagine they will lose Aarons immediately for example.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

As a club I think we are well run however our Premier league record on recruitment is nothing short of abysmal. The premier league is getting harder and it's quite telling that the top 3 have a goal difference of +102 already while every team outside the top 6 has a minus GD.Our self funding model simply can't work anymore,we dont spend we get relegated,we spend 50 million we still get relegated it makes no odds all very frustrating but it's the reality

Dont diode having over £500m ( and some) in the last decade had anything to do with it ? And what exactly, have they done with all that financial support? F luck all . They’re essentially one of the financially backed Championship club ever . They’ve NEVER competed once they’re in the PL . Bloody hell, even Brentford are making a better go of it than those yell n green tossas!

OP has it right … there’s no point to them whatsoever. No one in the football world actually takes them seriously. Tin pot is too grand a term for them tbh.

Probelm is for Nodge, you go up with no 'non relegation' style. It's completely open football and you just gift goals away every season. When you look at leeds last season, their fitness levels were incredible, their wolfpack defending was what made them a success. There's never anything unique to Nodge when you go up. I thought Smith would make you take a step back, defend first, then attack, but it's almost as open as it was under Farke.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

They've not been doing what they are based on luck ffs. you make your own luck in this world and they've appointed very good footballing men in the positions needed, consistently, for 10/15 years.

Skipp and Emi we our 2 best players,we lost them and were never replaced, instead we wasted decent money on several untried foreign players rather than go for one or two with Premier league experience. We need a fully fit squad to even think about competing but with the amount of injuries and Covid cases it's all rather pointless atm.

Personally I think Norwich have an excellent strategy. Hoover up the money and get promoted at a canter the following year.... the level of competition in the Prem is declining exponentially every year and last time I looked they were only 3 points from safety despite being dreadful- so one of these years they may actually stay up

The tragedy is that this sort of yoyo status will never be available to Town because of the cash the long line of parasites are expecting to take out of the club IF and when the cycle of decline is reversed. In many ways Norwich are what Ipswich might have become if Sheepshnks hadn't deftly piloted the club onto the financial rocks.

I know your post by a wind up - but i am genuinely baffled why supporters of clubs identify with what their clubs have become - Chelsea , Man City etc... or even Ipswich for that matter becoming a franchise with 19 new players and a new backroom sfaff all in one year and contriving to make themselves worse. That seems pretty pointless too

What was the thinking behind spending money on Gilmour as a loan? Did they think he would keep you up? Developing a player for Chelsea's benefit seems odd even if it does give the fans a chance to see a better quality player for a season.
