Saying their cup game at Boro should be played behind closed doors for reasons of “sporting integrity”. (No away tickets currently being allowed to be sold)

Again, that’s Chelsea bleating about sporting integrity.

Seems perfectly fair to punish Middlesbrough, what a bunch of fannies.

Surely they could give the tickets away for free? That would allow Chelski fans to be there and restore "fairness".

Can they not stop off halfway and stay in a Premier Inn for the night? Breakup the journey.

Couldn't Middlesbrough just sell tickets to the away end? Just cos poor little Chelsea can't sell them, doesn't mean no-one else can does it?

Are they allowed to do that? Are there some sort of rules in place about payment in kind?

You would have thought that would be easy enough.

All Chelsea need to do is provide a list of who are their equivalent of Gold Card holders etc and Boro can then sell in the same priority as Chelsea would, unless that's a data breach?

If the tickets were free, then the sanctioned Abramovich asset would receive no financial benefit.

Edit: Probably comes down to the "handling fee" which all clubs seem now to append to the basic ticket cost.

Would be a GDPR issue as data would be being given to another organisation without permission.

Ticket sales attract VAT, whereas handling fees don't. I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Easy enough to circumvent, just put round a circular: "Would you like the chance to buy a ticket for Middlesbrough (A) and, if so, be willing to share your details with that club?"

The "handling fee" is also the club's mark-up on away tickets.

Very good response from Boro.

"For Chelsea to seek to invoke sporting "integrity" as reason for the game being played behind closed doors is ironic in the extreme."

If only the players were paid better, they could pay for the flight themselves

such is the poverty that is PL football

If it’s all too much, why not forfeit the fixture? Even if they buy their way to Wembley, it’s not as if they can have any supporters, if you can call those people supporters, there presumably.

They’re getting tiresome. 69 in the first team squad, Lukaku paid £350k a week all bankrolled on stolen money? How about they just be grateful for what they’ve had.

I hope M’boro laugh in their faces, pack the ground out and switch off the showers (plumbing issues) just to irritate them.

Yet Ipswich send a list of ticket holders to the opposition when we visit. When we buy a ticket are we consenting to this?

True, although I assume there would be complications relating to where the money would go after it was paid to Boro. Would they be viewed as selling tickets even if it was via a third party, particularly when the FA Cup has a strict split on who gets what proportion of the gate receipts?
