i must say the standard i expected a bit better not just from Our girls but West Ham are super league but i wouldn’t cross the road to watch this sort football seen better lads games across the park ,I would say half decent Sunday league pub side would beat these sides.
Don’t get the hype of tv coverage of WSL.

We are watching a tier 3 side against a super league ladies side.

Agree although this pretty much West Ham reserves.

We look panicky and have seen us play far better.

Bit odd to base this on a cup game with two leagues between them.

You wouldn't choose Ipswich vs West Ham men in the cup as a good indicator of the wider men's game.

Truly impaired.

I would say u15s maybe u16s would beat both these sides at a canter.

And therefore what? What's the purpose of this opinion?

You can see that West Ham are a pro outfit and a decent WSL side, that said we don’t look 19 places worse than them. We look like a team missing some quality in midfield where we can get some composure and get our strikers involved.

You could easily see in 5 years time or a bit less us playing West Ham in the WPL, I’d think we’d be very competitive in the championship if we got promoted.

Bit mean really, I’m not bothered about standard of play being a reason not to be interested in the women’s game. Whilst I wish them well and would rather they do well than not of course, I’m just simply not interested generally and if you don’t really care it’s difficult to get into (ditto the tv stuff and international game).

What's the point you're making tho?

Women's football is one of the biggest growing sports playing catch up to the men's game. It has its own fan base and imo it's like golf and cricket in that if you don't enjoy it don't watch it.

Our ladies are top of their league that's all that matters. It's a growing side and one which will no doubt be fulltime in years years to come and something the town can be proud of alongside the men's side.

I've nothing against the women's game, and as you say it's a different game to men's football. I personally choose not to watch it but I hope that they do well and am glad to see the club investing in the team.
I just wish we could keep it seperate to the men's game in the podcasts etc. as I'd rather hear about our u18s and u23s than the women's team as those players are more likely to have an impact on the men's team.
I fully understand that people are trying to raise the profile of the women's team and I think that is a good thing, however there seems to be a bit of culture developing where anyone who isn't interested in the women's team is painted as some kind of misogynist or isn't a true ITFC fan.

I’m afraid you’re not allow to say bad things about the women’s game, for some reason.

Criticism's fine, as you'll have noticed from others who've posted it on this thread without expecting semi-amateur females to be on a par with Premier or Championship league males.

This is more of a case of someone starting a thread to tell everyone how uninterested he is.

That's a far cry from what you describe there.

Not being interested in women's football doesn't make you a misogynist.
Going out of your way to tell everyone you aren't interested and that it inherently isn't interesting or worth supporting probably does make you at least a bit.

Just saw the highlights from Arsenal - Coventry and the Arsenal side showing how its done.

They know how to move the ball properly and create for each other. Real gulf in class and Coventry looked very amateurish in comparison.

I've no idea but assume from that Coventry are some way below Arsenal league wise.

Sorry if someones posted a answer to this.

Coventry sit bottom of the second Tier. Hopefully we be swapping places with them next season if successful in the play offs

That's a very good point - I am not defending the OP in the slightest - his comments are ridiculous.
I just didn't particularly want to start a new thread so commented in this one as it's about the women's team.

That's really not the case, as this & similar previous threads show.

What I (and it'd seem others) object to is someone starting a thread simply to have a pop because they've not bothered to do a bit of either basic research and/or thinking.

Whilst I appreciate what you're saying. No one forces anyone to listen or watch pods... it's all personal choice.

I agree I'd like to know more about the men's u23 games and u18s etc but I don't think at any club it's ever been coveted in depth.

It's OK not to like women's football. But what's the point in posting about something you've no interest in. ( not saying that's you BTW. Just a general point)

a niche perspective

Lets have this right.

There has been a tendency in various quarters, in recent years, to really push the women's game in a way not entirely warranted by the quality. It is talked about in some places as an equivalent, and people object to having it thrust upon them. I get that.

But it is also right that there was just no need to comment in this thread, even i f you are irritated by the push. Because this wasnt part of a push, but an ITFC thing.

Pushing the game? Promoting you mean surely.

No one is forced to watch and most are under no illusion it resembles the men's game as far as I can tell.
