People begining to realise now ?! 10:13 - Aug 11 with 4257 views | DMDC | l got slated over the summer about my posts saying there are no goals in this team. People are starting to see that themselves now. Too many wear their blue tinted glasses and try to pretend everything is fine. KmK plays his same formation week after week, none of the forwards have a clue how to score, cant hit a barn door. Change it up a bit KmK, the system clearly doesnt suit the players. We arnt Liverpool or Man City, our team just isnt good enough for the system. When everyone can clearly see we need someone who can put the ball in the net, we go out and get another defender, the one area we really didnt need to bolster. Utter waste of money. The honeymoon is over for KmK, that game against Colchester was shameful. Those players may only be back up, but half of them are on the bench each Saturday, with people keep saying how awesome our bench is, well, it got schooled the other night good and proper. Another season where we will be lucky to scrape to 11th.

“Ladapo will score goals, but so far he's played against one of the whammest CH in the league and was up against 2 CB who wanted nothing more than to just kick him at FGR” I doubt defences will treat him much differently moving forward. His strength for Rotherham was playing in a two.

That won't be an issue if he occupies the opposition defenders and lets others in to score. At FGR his athleticism and strength caused one heck of a nuisance.

Probably not, but my point is, he's had 2 games and this helmet wants to write us off already, If Ladapo drops a goal of the season contender and a 9/10 game on Saturday, watch his tune change completely

I don't think waiting until we've actually played a bit more than 180 minutes of league football before forming a judgement constitutes a "free hit".

Have to say - was quite impressed with him against FGR, they had a right lump at the back. I thought he would have a real issue as he looks 'beanpole-ish' from a distance but he proved more than a match physically and also, worked their defence very well. You can see why KM signed him.

Three strikers have left (plus probably Simpson too) and three brought in , so logically room for another. I am prepared to wait and see over the next three weeks. Hope to be pleasantly surprised. I expect quite a few fringe players to disappear on loan after the performance this week at Colchester feeing up wages for the striker needed.
People begining to realise now ?! on 11:58 - Aug 11 with 1070 views | heavyweight | Nobody can deny it was a very disappointing result, and to a certain extent a disappointing performance. Although chances were created and on another night similar chances would have been taken - there does seem to be an inability to "win ugly" I have a lot of faith in KM and the style and changes he is trying to implement & it is easy to see that improvements have been made - also that we have some way to go. I wonder whether coming up through age-group football where the emphasis is 'doing the right thing' rather than finding 'any which way to win' he has a something to learn in terms of pragmatism to win games. I wonder if MK Dons fans are having the same conversations after dominating possession in their first 2 league games but losing both. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

People begining to realise now ?! on 10:26 - Aug 11 by DMDC | lt was a competitive game. First time we have lost to Colchester in 71 years in that scenario, thats an utter embarrassment whichever way you try to dress it up. And then for KmK to say we have more important things to worry about, well, why did the supporters bother to turn up at all then ? Most of those players are on the bench each week,as l said above, they got completely schooled. |
Yes, we got beat. Yes I don't like it. Yes I think a further goalscorer is needed. Yes we should be more clinical. Yes we need to mix it up a bit more against ( in modern parlance) 'the low block'. However, to say we were 'schooled' is utter nonsense. Nine times out of ten that performance wins the game. Frustrating, of course but proof of your pre season assertions, far from it my friend, far from it.

On the flip side I wonder if Harper's bad night might have made us think twice about whether we want to loan out El Mizouni after all.

Nobody is giving anybody a "free hit", which is a term I hate regardless. We have played 2 games, won 1 drawn 1 (2ppg). Scored 3 goals (1.5gpg). I could understand concerns if we had been turned over 3-0 in both games and not created a single chance. I find it flabbergasting that anyone would attempt to put any negative spin on things right now, this club is going in the right direction for the first time in a long time. It's so frustrating to read some of the stuff written on here at times - certainly not aimed at the bulk of posters who I think a great contributors.

I really like what I've seen from Ladapo so far. Appreciate he hasn't found the net yet, but only 2 games and his pre season finishing goals were clinical finishes, will be sooner rather than later he will get his first. Unlike Pigott when he played and didn't score, you still feel Ladapo offers a lot to the team being the focal point without scoring. He has pace, power, presence, good feet. He is such a handful for defenders, really gave Ricardo Santos (a man mountain) a physical match - that was really encouraging to see. [Post edited 11 Aug 2022 12:09]

In any case, using "free hit" to mean "won't judge until we've actually played some games" is a pretty wild stretch of the concept.

Should reiterate, I'm in no way writing Ladapo off, he's the lump up top we've needed since Murph, and if he can bang in 15-20 gaols for us, then happy days, If he manages 10, still , happy days, his hold up and link up is what will allow Chaplin/Burns/Harness etc to go and bang 10-15 goals each

It's not a "free hit" it's a sense of perspective and a touch of patience. Besides, the way you're talking anyone would think we'd lost the opening 2 games.

People begining to realise now ?! on 13:22 - Aug 11 with 916 views | Zapers | I nearly give up when i see posts like yours. Why can't you be patient? Do you honestly think we are not trying to sign a good striker? I mean, what goes on in some supporters minds when they immediately jump to conclusions, just because we signed a defender. Maybe, just maybe, in order to get the player the manager wants, he has to be patient. I really wonder sometimes.

Exactly. Although he was playing in a two, he was engaged to occupy and press.....Smith got a hatful. He's being asked to do the same here but as a lone man, he'll still get goals, just not as many, the two behind are those that need to chip in with double figures at least.
