Gutted.

A player who means a lot to me and gave me great memories. Thoughts with him and his family.

Ah man, horrible news.

The best striker II've ever seen play for ITFC; gave me some of my happiest times following this daft football club.

BIg love to him and his family.

What a day, had to put my dog to sleep this morning, HRH on her way out and now this.

Best wishes to Marcus fighting this terrible disease 😢

So sorry re your dog, that's always a terrible day, and on top of the other news too.

Right with you & everyone else re Marcus. I was at Anfield to see him score *that* winning goal for us, & will always remember him like that, in his prime.

Oh noooooooo. Poor Marcus. A dreadful disease. All the very best to him and his family. A wonderful player and by informed accounts a great bloke.

Bumped into him a while back in Bristol, as he was mates with my the boss. He was obviously shocked that there was a Town fan there.

I'm the sort of person who just cracks on and leaves the person alone, as I wouldn't want my life to be a series of conversations about the same thing.

But he came up to me, knowing I was the Town fan. Chatted about his time and he was super positive about the club, fans and that time of his life. He parted by saying TWTD, which made me smile. Not sure it was deliberate.

My experience was that he was a great bloke.

Best wishes to him and his family.

It would nice if the club did fundraiser for which he could be in attendance while he still can.

This is a great idea. I could see a full house attending. Maybe a game against Barnsley or Bolton to mark the play off years or Norwich!

Got to be Southampton, surely? 3 goals, 3 points, 3rd in premiership.

Stewart away against Bolton is certainly up there. But Jim's home performance makes me think of him first when it come to Bolton. Reuser, Naylor and Evan Mogga come to mind first for Barnsley.

If I had a choice of ONE medical condition to wipe off the planet, it would be MND. I encounter it semi-regularly and it's always heart-breaking and unbelievably cruel as a disease.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Oh nooo, I’ve only just heard and am gutted by this news. Beyond devastating for him and his loved ones. Awful, awful disease. It sounds like he’s going to try to be positive and use his platform to help raise funds and awareness, which shows the mark of the fella.

I’m sure the club and our fans will all rally round him and his fund raising efforts.

Keep strong Marcus

Really upsetting news. Health can be so brittle and taken for granted. I don't know if theres such a thing a slow progressive variety, but if there is I hope thats what he has. Best wishes to him.

Outstanding player. Truly gifted striker.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your dog. Pets are very much part of the family and it’s very hard to say goodbye to them, having had to do it a few times.

Thank you, heartbroken. She was 9 and in heart failure but its still a shock, i don't think unless you have owned a dog you can fully understand the loss.

Just a very sad day in every way

Devastating news. Without doubt one of my favourite Town players I've seen (and that includes the side of 1981), and a lovely man.
