Going well for Celina… on 07:11 - Sep 13 with 1735 views | tractorboy1978 | Any ITFC fans wishing him any ill are morons to be honest. A move didn't happen in the summer, perhaps stubbornness on both sides, but he absolutely has an affiliation with the club. He wouldn't have dropped into L1 for any other club last summer and he chose us over representing his country more than once which didn't help with his work permit issues this summer.

Very good post your spot on, We know he is not the best at tracking back but he has great skills and is a Championship class player I just hope our present players will be able to step up next season. [Post edited 13 Sep 2022 7:47]

Play in front of 25,000 in a parochial town or 3,000 people in a thriving metropolis? It’s a lifestyle choice as much as a financial and career choice. Good luck to him and hopefully he’ll be back here when we’re playing at a standard that warrants his ability.

It was a VISA choice first and foremost. He was seemingly keener to join Stoke than move to the thriving metropolis.

Going well for Celina… on 09:07 - Sep 13 with 1549 views | itfcjoe | He was desperate to sign here, he even went to Turkey and basically did a runner to come back here and hope that we offered him something as wanted to sign again - but we didn't after that point and he was left with no option of where to go. From what I gather it really wasn't about money, you can't sign for someone who isn't offering you something or agreeing a deal with your parent club. I think it's a real shame how it has ended up, he clearly doesn't want to be there, and I'd have had him back here

We agreed something with Dijon so wasn't to do with parent club

The impression I've got/heard, is that Dijon weren't prepared to contribute towards his wages this season, like they did last season.

Not sure that quite stacks up, otherwise why did he agree a deal with Stoke? I've nothing against him, and would love to see him back, but it seems to me that he tried to negotiate his best deal between a few clubs (as he is entitled to do), and at some point we decided to move on as it was getting too expensive and/or that we decided he wasn't that keen to sign for us after all. The sort of transfer ins and outs that probably happen all summer across the world.

Interesting point...I presume our option to extend his WP ended when he signed for another club and so we couldn't re-sign him in Jan anyway?

That does seem to chime with the "running towards us" comment. He was clearly courting a few clubs and seemed set to sign for Stoke, so that could be what Ashton meant. Not a criticism of Bersant per se, he's fully entitled to seek the best deal for himself. But if the club want players desperate to be here then that's their prerogative too. Not got a problem with either stance to be honest.

From what I gather it was something along lines of this..... He wanted to come here and didn't really look elsewhere We got a deal agreed with Dijon, agreed terms with Celina and was close We moved goalposts a lot on personal terms and then everything kicked off He then looked elsewhere, but realised after Stoke move fell through that options were limited He basically wanted to reopen talks here but it didn't happen Went to Turkey after agreeing terms, pulled out in hope we'd go back in for him, we didn't So went back there

Going well for Celina… on 10:14 - Sep 13 with 1348 views | Simonds92 | Why is our fanbase obsessed with things like this, as others have said it's weird. Some people go full incel about former players/managers just let them get on with their careers. How many players actually leave here on bad terms that justify a bit of stick when it doesn't go well for them? Very few that im aware of.

As well as career and financial, yes. I’m sure it’s all been a consideration. Not sure why so many Town fans are begrudging of Celina taking a better salary to play a better standard of football in a far greater and more interesting region of the world. He owes us nothing. No brainer at the age of 26 adding Super Lig to his PL, Ligue 1 and Erdevise experience. A good move as he could still play an even better standard and get more money with time on his side.

He can always go back to Norway? A couple of decent sized clubs there.

Not disagreeing with any of that, but the running towards us comment seems to indicate that MA wants players who will immediately say they want to play for ITFC, not wait for a couple of weeks to see who offers most and then say it. If BC had been unequivocal, and agreed to take a big pay cut, he would be on our staff now. He isn't. I understand why, I wish him well, but cannot see this season working out at all well for him. I hope that somehow we can bring him home next season.

Any idea why we moved the goal posts? Seems no -sense all of everything else you mentioned is accurate.

I never realised a loan deal was so complicated. I thought the team that comes in just took over the contract and paid something between 0 and 100 percent of the wage, plus a loan fee, with the owner team paying the rest. Will Football Manager need a code change after this saga?
