Town's long run of no penalties given... 19:28 - Oct 2 with 4513 views | Edmundo | ... without trying to start a thread all about a mystery vendetta by the awful refs in this league, why are we so seldom given a penalty?

Town's long run of no penalties given... on 22:21 - Oct 2 by BarcaBlue | We rarely get in the box to shoot? I sometimes think you and me are watching different matches. How do we become top scorers in lg1? How are we regularly creating 15 + chances per match? You're inventing scenarios that don't bear any resemblance to what's going on in games this season. |
Are those shots from within the box ? I don’t know. I’m just posing the question / scenario. There was a question passed at the start of the thread why we don’t get penalties. I’ve just posed POSSIBLE scenarios, I’m not saying definitively that’s what’s happening . It seems rare as hens teeth on here, that you can pose a question , or even voice an opinion of view about anything.

This season there have been a couple that have gone in out favour but neither have had a material impact on the game. BristolRover's second sending off, whichwas rescinded, but were already 2-0 up, they were already a man down and there were just minutes left. Morsy probably should have been sent off against Plymouth, but we lost it anyway so impact on the season. On the other hand, Harness's disallowed goal and Sheffield Wednesday's offside goal have cost us points( against promotion rivals). We could also have had a penalty against Bristol Rovers, Definiteley should have had one vs Shrewsbury and Chaplin was tripped in the penalty area against Pompey on Saturday, again nothing given. But given the results those decisions did no damage.

Town's long run of no penalties given... on 20:33 - Oct 2 by ringwoodblue | The law of averages would suggest that we will get a few pens later in the season hopefully at least one of them will be at Fratton Park. |
The law of averages if half-@rsed bollox. There's no reason to believe that will either get more penalties or carry on not getting penalties just because of what has happened in the past.

Could equally have had one on Saturday for the trip on Chaplin.

Town's long run of no penalties given... on 22:23 - Oct 2 by SomethingBlue | There is probably something in what McKenna said the other week (if I recall correctly) about referees wanting to show they aren't afraid to make bold calls against a large, baying home crowd. Some of them definitely overcompensate in the other direction, it's fairly clear. [Post edited 2 Oct 2022 22:23]

Town's long run of no penalties given... on 00:05 - Oct 3 by gainsboroughblue | I truly cannot remember the last time we were given a penalty and thought, blimey, we got lucky there. Actually, when was our last penalty at all? |
Gillingham away in January by my reckoning.

Town's long run of no penalties given... on 21:16 - Oct 2 by ArnieM | Two factors why we possibly don’t get penalties. 1) were rarely in the box about to shoot 2) our players are too honest and don’t go looking for it by falling over. Case in point, v Pompey. Davis gets into the box in first half snd was either about to shoot or cross snd was brought down . But he inexplicably got up again and carried on. Had he stayed down I wonder if the eg would have pointed to the spot ? |
The refs should give those anyway, otherwise it just encourages diving

Our first goal Saturday? Some picky Ref's might have given a foul by Morsy in the build up . No yellow card for Sam ,which would have ment he misses Tuesday , for the second penalty ??
Town's long run of no penalties given... on 10:06 - Oct 3 with 966 views | FrankfurtBlue | The Portsmouth commentators stated that maybe Chaplin was too honest for the first "foul/tackle" in the box on Saturday, and had he not got up so quickly, he might have got the penalty. Question is, do we get outdone by the opposition when it comes to playing fair, or playing the referees?

Would have to have been a very picky ref, it wasn't a foul and even pompey didnt question it.

Yes, and before that Pigott scored one against Wimbledon back in August last year.

Ask every supporter in the league and they will all say without question that opponents get more decisions than their team do.

Town's long run of no penalties given... on 05:35 - Oct 3 by textbackup | Sorry? Walton absolutely floored matey for the first one, and second one Morsys foot is waist height into their man, both in the penalty area. What exactly was the red suppose to do? I’m sure we’ll get a pen or two along the season, we seem to be doing just fine without them |
I'm not seeing the second. Ball came in, Morsy got to it first and played it, matey throws himself at Morsy. First, yeah ok, sure, it's hard to argue. Second, not having it. 4:27: [Post edited 3 Oct 2022 12:37]

Not saying it was a foul but same as the Harness goal against Barnsley it could have gone against us as Morsys reputation seems to have Ref's hard on him .
