FA Cup draw on 14:30 - Oct 17 with 1934 views | LankHenners | Predict we'll get the most dreadful of ties - another League 1 team, probably one we'll play/have played within a month of the fixture for maximum dullness. What would be nice is if we had a minnow away on TV and we went and smashed them. Just completely ruin any giant killing excitement. Fed up of us looking stupid on TV - time to give a bit back.

They don't do that any more. Someone dull and routinely beaten at home would be ideal.

I had a funny feeling that was the case when I typed it. What happens if a genuine minnow (eg; Needham) pull a big fish out of the hat? Some of the minnows' ground would be too small to accomodate a crowd? Let's say Needham get through to the 3rd round? What happens then (other than we go to their game as we'd already be out) if they get a Prem top six side?

Of the 92, Town and West Ham are the only ones York City have never played in a competitive fixture.

it can be played at the nearest suitable venue if there is a safety/police issue. [Post edited 17 Oct 2022 15:26]

These days they just play it. Think the FA felt the switches to big grounds damaged the integrity of the competition, even if it was understandable why clubs did it.

They just play it and accommodate what they can. I would guess Needham could squeeze 2,000 into their place. I'm with the FA on this one though, play the draw as it's drawn. Also significantly increases the chance of a giant killing, home advantage is massive when you've got top players trying to play on a cow field. Not to mention a full house at a small ground making for a way better TV spectacle.
