So this blip. 10:41 - Nov 13 with 12197 viewsFrimleyBlue

Some say it's not a blip as we re 2nd etc etc.

But.

Last 6 games. And we are 6th in form.
https://www.twtd.co.uk/league-tables/competition:league-one/form/matches:6/type:

Also note. Over 10 games. It's 3rd.

Even 12 games is 3rd.

People can talk about ppgs etc. At the moment. Our form won't be good enough for a promotion finishing position.

Something has to change and quite soon imo before it all starts going south like 2019. The money spent on this side, 6th in form isn't good enough.

Lots of shopping for Ashton etc in Jan needed. Big 6 months ahead.

I have to say that 'over 12 games we're only 3rd in the form table ' is an astonishingly negative take.

Though it is if we want to finish in the top two - dependent who is second, of course!

Saying that, every team will go through a blip at some point. I would like to see McKenna ditch the Woolfenden-Edmundson partnership at the back, accept the Harness-Chaplin combination is not working and get out of the rut of waiting until the 65th before consistently repeating the trick of replacing attacking players rather than using the direction of the game and form to influence his choices.

Still 27 games to go. We are creating chances. Have faith and patience. We have craved a manager that will coach and improve players. One who will work on the training ground to develop patterns of play. We wanted a club connecting with the fans, ground improvements and investment in the squad. There will be some business in Jan I'm sure but I do hope it's only one or two. Any more will be unnecessary. Quality is hard to find and we already have quantity, just look how many we have out on loan at the moment. Our league position in May will be the result of a whole season, not 6 games. I'll take where we are now as a really solid platform for promotion and no need to panic. Even with this 'blip', we are 4 points off top.

My point is that if our so called blip has us in third place, then it's not really a blip it is just the normal run of results in any season.

We WILL draw more games and we WILL lose more, it's just not realistic to expect a procession to promotion, and I'd fully expect a run of form far worse than this over the coming months. But McKenna has consistently had us ticking over and picking up points throughout his time here and we just have to have faith that he'll continue to do that, and not collectively sh1t the bed every time we have a game or 2 that doesn't go to plan.

Well it's not when the minimum expectation is automatic promotion. No one should have lower expectations than that with our resources.

As said in pre season. Both KM and Ashton had 12 months to save their jobs. The Pension pot won't keep shelling out for league 1 football.

You have to hope the rest do the same. But we do seem to be faltering. Let's hope Plymouth's draw is the start of a blip. I still think we need to watch Sheffield Wednesday, they could end up as champions l think.

What most seem to be ignoring whilst saying we will be fine if we just continue doing what we are doing, is that to get automatic promotion we are going to have to do much more than we are.

Those results against top 6 sides... they didnt matter as long as we ensured we didnt drop needless points elsewhere. We are doing just that so now those dropped points to plymouth and the throwing lead away to sheff wed, do now matter.

Plymouth and Sheffield we'd over 40 odd games now are top 2 in form... ipswich are close. But we've got to be better than we are doing to have a chance of top 2.

… which has the Cheltenham commentary on

And you’ll see 6 superb chances carved out

That involves a post and 3 remarkable blocks in quick succession and that’s just 2 of the chances

The commentators are screaming gleefully at the defensive heroics

We won’t draw many games like that this season it was a freak

Based on current form we won't be second after the next round of fixtures.

It is a blip. And a worrying blip. Because we are not converting our chances and we are conceding goals caused by unforced errors.

The last few results have sent out a signal to the opposition that you are never beat by Ipswich. Even if you are one or two goals down. There is a soft underbelly.

I'm still convinced that we will finish top two and I have 100% faith in KM. But it's down to the players to tart cutting out these unnecessary errors.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

I disagree, the last two league performances merited 6 points and we got 2. We're already good enough.

Having said that, I'm not averse to getting a striker in, especially with John-Jules out for months. I've never seen so many excellent crosses go unrewarded yesterday.

We've had a below par run but do you look at this squad and manager and really think it will go the way of Lambert?

We have one league game in the next three weeks or so. I would be much more concerned if we don't look any better after that time on the training ground.

We are 2nd.

We have won 14, drawn 5 and lost 4.

In 2 of the 5 draws we conceded a last minute equaliser. In another 1 of the draws we had a third to win the game ridiculously ruled out. In another 1 of the draws, we had 29 shots to 3.

In 2 of the 4 defeats we had 30 shots to the oppositions 3.

We are having a stunning season. All but through to the third round of the FA Cup, home tie in the Pizza knockouts.

We are 2nd in what looks like a 3 horse title race. We are miles ahead of 4th and a million miles ahead of 7th for this time of the season.

We are going to have a bad run. We are going to fail to win every game. Yesterday will happen.

All this talk of poor form or a plan B or whatever is laughable. Chaplin and Harness have both struggle for form of late otherwise we have won 5-1 yesterday. It happens.

I really despair of the football internet at times like this where people overreact to everything. In 91-92 we lost 3 in a row and went 8 without a win. God knows what social media would have been like then!

Our ‘blip’ is top 3 or top 6 form! We aren’t going to be top of the form table at all times all season.

At the moment the evidence is yes it's currently going in a negative direction.

We've got injuries galore. We are not solving the defensive frailties that have been obvious for weeks now and these 'freak' results keep happening. We don't allow our front line to work together and build relationships. We don't allow players to gain confidence so that they are more composed, thus being able to be more clinical than they have been.

I think it’s a fair OP. It’s just reaffirms what we all know, which is that we’ve dropped of the pace and need to stop dropping as many points if we want to go up automatically (which ideally we do - don’t want to be in the PO lottery if we’re good enough not to be).

We dont need to be top of the form table. Top 2 is required to maintain a top 2 position.

Game stats are meaningless if you don't win the games. You don't win points for having nice looking stats.

What you've said is we struggle to score goals despite a load of chances. Our defence struggles and are even more chaotic late in games.

So no its not a fantastic season. Its one that started with promise and slowly nosediving.
