Covid - recent experiences 08:39 - Dec 1 with 3284 viewsunbelievablue

Howdy. Unfortunately I've come down with the 'rona. Felt crap on Saturday night, tested positive Sunday and have tested positive every day since. Monday was the absolute worst (chills, muscle aches, cough, weakness etc.). Now it just feels like the tail end of a cold.

Question - has anyone had it recently? Any timeframes, anecdotally? Plan to go to the pub all day Sunday...

p.s. before anyone (understandably) asks "why are you testing?", my partner works with severely immuno-compromised individuals and therefore has to be very careful. Once she got it, I was both testing for her sake and out of curiosity.

…tested positive the day before I was had my booster booked in, classic.

Flu like for the first couple of days, then a heavy cold for the next 3.

Tested positive for 6 days.

The cough hung around for about a week afterwards, worse during the night, an annoying tickle.

On my timeframes you should be in the clear by Sunday.

3rd time a couple of weeks back.

1st was horrendous, 2nd was just a bad head cold/cough, 3rd similar to 1st.

Sorted in about 4 days this time but nagging cough stuck around for about a week.

* I test due to the FIL being 85yrs old with blood cancer.

It's sad that people feel the need to make excuses for testing themselves.

Heads off the inevitable.

Anyway it’s a reason not an excuse.

You can expect to be testing positive for about a week to 10 days even if the symptoms are largely gone after a few days.

Not covid as such, but I'm wondering if having covid last Christmas has messed with my immune system a bit....

I've had a cold that simply refused to fully clear off for about 6 weeks, and this week mutated into the actual flu which has floored me in a way that I don't usually get floored. Appreciate that it's probably a number of colds and a separate flu, but the point is that my body, which usually bats these things away pretty easily, has utterly failed to do so.

Anyone else had similar problems with bugs post Covid?

Had it in July. I felt like every particle was dog tired for a couple of days. After two days enforced loafing about I felt a lot better, other than tiredness/ no energy in the afternoons which reduced over time. I tested after a few days because of visiting my dad who is in his 90s.

I have some LFT tests left and will use them if I get it again.

I’ve no evidence whatsoever, but I like to think the vaccinations at least mitigated the worst of it.

I'm left with parosmia from my 1st bout.

Effectively, my sense of smell & taste is incredibly distorted.

The smell of certain foods cooking/preparing has a "rancid oniony" type smell, which is also matched by my sweat too - have confirmed with the wife that after a footy runaround that I have a normal sweat smell - nice.

Can last a lifetime too.

Yes, think I got it a few weeks back after Charlton.

Completely knocked me off my feet. I thought at first I had glandular fever again as my throat was in agony, plus my eyes were stinging like crazy and was like I was crying all the time!

Tested 3 days after Charlton all of which were negative. Tested on the Wednesday and was positive. By Friday I was testing negative again.

That's a quick turnaround. The throat thing sucks - really debilitating.

Mrs got it first, presumably from work, and tested positive on Saturday. She's just tested out so hopefully I'm good to go Sunday.

Both me and my Mrs had it at the same time and have 2 young children, it wasn't much fun.

I had Covid a few weeks back, think I tested negative for the first time the day of the Bracknell game, but I'm still shattered most of the time. Took me a while to get back to speed when I had it in March but don't remember feeling quite so tired a few weeks afterwards.

Just recovering from my 2nd bout, this time round it felt a lot worse 3-4 days just flattened. Managed a couple of days back at work start of this week but had to wfh for the last couple of days, just no energy, very drained. Really hoping this clears up in the next few days.

Myself and my partner got it back in October. I wasn't too bad (cough, sore throat, headache, tired) but partner was in bed for 7 days with same symptoms but more severe.

We both tested positive for 18 days. Didn't think that it was going to end.

A guy in my elderly footy team tested positive 3 days ago and is planning on playing for the team on saturday. Everyone seems fine with that on the whatsapp group at least. I can't make it luckily, as with those tiny dressing rooms, the whole squad will come down with it.

Sorry not what you asked - more an indicator of the desire for normality going too far.

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

Yeah. If I am symptomless but testing positive on Sunday, I'll have a decision to make, and I'm really not sure what I will do.

EDIT - conscious this will be seen as problematic, potentially.

The timing in your case is a little more on your side than my example. I'd just go by the red line in a test on the day, personally.

It does seem to be the case that Covid can do (sometimes long-term) damage to all parts of the body, thus rendering nonsense the saying "it's just like the flu".

Negative last night, negative this morning.

PUB ME.

I went to my brother in laws 60th last night - it was like a supersized Phoenix Nights event

Anyhoo - quite enjoyed it actually, met loads of old faces, both family and friends. Bumped into my Mrs's auntie and uncle and said uncle was recovering from a stroke but looked quite good. He advised that they both had Corona recently, lasted less than a week and was like a heavy cold.

Glad you're feeling publike again, I missed the OP first time round.

I see your big bruv is off to Qatar - he sent me some pictures last night on the plane sitting in either Business or First.

He's a jammy fecker isn't he? What is it with the now balding Youth Squad? TK was over there the other week hob nobbing with FIFA!

Sounds fun. Heavy cold by the end but Monday was mad - never felt so weak in my life.

Yeah, jammy fecker. Travel eh. Hoping TK joins in the pub tonight but TBC.
