This virus thing 14:22 - Dec 28 with 14886 views | gtsb1966 | I probably know more people who have had/got it than haven't had it at all. Absolute barsteward of a lingerer too. Personally got it a month ago but still it keeps coming back mildy. So many people with coughs.
This virus thing on 14:29 - Dec 28 with 6882 views | RegencyBlue | Had it for a month and still can’t completely shake it off. It certainly hit me harder than Covid did although to be fair I had all the vaccinations against that.
This virus thing on 14:34 - Dec 28 with 6847 views | StokieBlue | It's not too surprising given the fact that the social distancing and face masks worked so well to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses people have lost some immunity. It's almost like wearing masks in confined places such as public transport and supermarkets during winter, like they do in Asia, is a policy generated out of prior experience and scientific knowledge. We all know how it went when I suggested such a thing would be sensible here going forward. Given that we are all stuck with these little nasties I'm afraid. It's also not like covid has gone away, current hospitalisations are running at ~1000 per day. We are just lucky that Omicron doesn't affect the lungs as badly and that we have highly effective vaccinations. https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/uk-daily-covid-admissions SB
This virus thing on 14:34 - Dec 28 with 6842 views | SpruceMoose | People would really benefit from wearing a mask while they're out an about. Especially if they're already ill with something. Many people appear to have moved on from some of the more basic hygiene practices that were widely adopted during the pandemic, and now seem shocked that they're back picking up coughs, colds and various other viruses.

This virus thing on 14:37 - Dec 28 with 6795 views | clive_baker | It's horrendous. Knocked me for 6, high temperature, couldn't get out of bed for 2 days, sweats, headache, sore throat, no appetite. Drained all my energy, just about every part of my body ached. Hit me way worse than Covid did, it was awful and still only feel about 60%.

I've just tested positive, putting it down to Boxing Day Heavy cold, can't taste or smell anything and randomly my teeth ache.

This virus thing on 15:10 - Dec 28 with 6633 views | blueprint | I’m guessing it’s what I have. Started 12 days ago but got worse to the point I contacted the Dr’s this morning who prescribed me antibiotics. Feel constantly knackered , sweats during the night, cough which leaves me dizzy and random aches. Took a Covid test yesterday but that was negative. Seems to be a lot of this going around in the last month.

The random “teeth aching” was something I’d never heard or thought of until I got Covid, subsequently have spoken to more than one person experiencing exactly that!

It's quite bizarre and disconcerting, feel like I could just push them out with my tongue. And a really painful neck ache.

Water, own brand lemsip (paracetamol and phenylephrine) with honey, a mucolytic cough syrup, vapour rub, water, fruit and veg, bed rest, lots of tissues, water, some mild exercise (a leisurely walk) each day and water.

I did the leisurely walk on Boxing Day and felt a lot better……until about 9pm when I crashed, went to bed and have remained ever since.

Loads of water, bed rest and paracetamol. For 48 hours I was in a really bad way, struggled to have the light on without it making me nauseous.

Oh dear, keep an eye on yourself and ask for help if you need it. I did have a particularly bad 48 hours so hopefully you are nearer the end than the start. Did I mention water? Feel better soon amigo

Same here, spent the week before Xmas in bed or curled up on the sofa, think i had every symptom known to man, and a couple more. Still have a lingering cough and zero energy, tried to get back to decorating this morning but gave up after an hour or so, was exhausted, Never experienced anything like it before.

That just reads like you wanting people to have reduced natural immunity and that if masks had not been worn we would now be more resilient.

Exactly the same here, it's the most ill I've ever been for sure. I had the sh1ts for about 12 hours too, that was probably on about day 3, although can't be sure as the days tended to merge into 1 between about Monday - Thursday last week.

Yep, the sh1ts too. About 4 nights running when I wasn't sure if I'd slept or not, I think it was those weird fever induced dreams. Thought today I was completely over it other than a cough but any exertion and I feel weak as a kitten.

Thank you. If anyone is failing to shift it do not feel bad about calling the Doctor. He told me there is so much going around but the antibiotics tend to take affect in a day or so. I hate calling them as they have enough crap going on but after 12 days and feeling progressively worse I gave in.
This virus thing on 17:22 - Dec 28 with 5871 views | StochesStotasBlewe | Mrs SSB had it on and off for about a month. Lingered a fair bit and eventually persuaded her to take a few days off which seemed to have had the desired effect. The coughing was quite unpleasant though not helped by her 20 a day ciggie habit. The care homes she's responsible for running have also had a fair few residents and staff affected. She had Covid earlier this year, but was ok after a week or so.

Surely we want to build up natural immunity? Otherwise the next generation are going to be pretty damn sickly.

It reads like taking some simple measures in order to protect other people from one's grimy germs. Easy to do and lots of people will benefit. I don't know why people make out it's so hard to not be selfish when it isn't.
