One thing JD is very good at, is hunting players down on the counter
Very rarely do sides get behind us on the counter attack because JD is rapid, that's clearly a big part of Burnley's game with their wingers too |  |

You can’t really count a performance in a pre season friendly and let’s be fair this is ‘one’ game against Burnley, who’ve made changes themselves to their usual starting XI. This is so typical, a decent performance then we go hugely overboard about a player, let’s see if he can do it for a number of games in succession. Don’t think we learned anything new today about Jackson though he did play well. Works hard and offers a lot of pace in certain situations when we can exploit it but as far as competition for Burns goes it’s the Welshman 100 times out of 100 for me still.
Certainly better there than through the middle but the vast majority of our games aren’t going to offer him the sort of space he had today and he’s too poor technically on the ball for when we need to be slick and composed on it. Spaffed our best chance today as well when Leigh chipped it over to the back post and Jackson took a poor touch off his chest then smashed the shot off target and was a bit fortunate to get a corner out of it. |  |
