Is it only me staying with the one game at a time mantra?

God forbid this place if we lose on Saturday and Wendies win.

(Secretly I am of course feeling pretty positive)

We are taking it one game at a time. And if we win that game, we're up.

It's a massive game. Especially if we want to be champions of the league. I can see us being relentless for both games. Can't wait for Fleetwood game. Staying over at friends near Blackpool.

Kieran and the players are. They're the ones who need the mindset.
We're allowed to flirt with 'what ifs' but of course so many of us are burned by the Evans years, we dare not!

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

I’m confident on the basis that Sheffield Weds need two wins no matter what. And we have Fleetwood in reserve.

But yes, Saturday is still a massive game, if anything just to avoid any last weekend madness.

Also, we should be thinking of overhauling Plymouth too. Would be great to have promotion wrapped up and the Fleetwood game being all about the title.

Indeed. I'm still conscious of the Curse and am keeping my powder dry. You'll be pleased to know I have an awful lot of things to say, eventually :)

Well, quite:

The silence walking out of PR that day was almost total.

Exeter have had a decent season and been a little unfortunate to lose to both Plymouth and Wednesday. I think we’ll win but no one should expect it too be straightforward or very easy.

I am very confident. I think this team will finish it on Saturday and it will be relatively routine.

Of course that is not certain and sometimes in football when everything points one way that is when shocks happen like FGR beating Sheff Wed. Exeter are clearly no mugs either.

I'm sure the coolest man in the Town is the one in the dugout though so we're in good hands.

I know the message will be that it's no different to any other game, but we are playing with supreme confidence and I think we'll really look to put on an exhibition on Saturday.

Chappers will want his golden boot, the boys will want the title and their 100 points (despite any noise about not looking at the table).

To add to that Exeter are coming off a really punishing run. I don't think it's in our DNA at the moment to become complacent.

I'm confident but this is Town so I am not 100% confident. Exeter are a decent side, better than their recent run would suggest, so we can't afford any complacency. That said, I've not seen a hint of complacency from the team to date and I doubt we'll see any on Saturday. Exeter have some threats but they ship a fair amount of goals away from home and we nullified them really well at their place. They have nothing to play for now so if we can get on top early and hopefully get a goal to steady the nerves then I think we'll be fine. We've been relentless lately.

Not only you. Most on here are caveating posts about the future with ‘if’.

The manager and players seem quite ruthless in their one game at a time approach which is perfect. Most supporters are aware of that. But I think it’s ok to feel more than ‘pretty positive’. One win, two draws to SW not winning both and it’s done.

I was thinking about GBs teams this morning and I always had a little worry about them blowing up on the big occasion/fragility in a way that I don’t have with McKenna’s team. Crewe at home in the rain, dismal play off games with Charlton in 98, blown opportunity against Sheffield Utd etc.

Actually, Owlstalk have just about given up and are talking about the playoffs none too positively.

I'm feeling less and less confident the closer the game gets. God knows what I'll be like come Saturday. Still can't wait though.

Honestly?.. I'm at the point now where I'm just looking for 100pts and 100 goals..... I know that sounds a bit cocky. And it's not based on being a self righteous Town fan. It's based on us overcoming a horrendous run in with ease and confidence. And a very good team playing fantastically well atm..
Imho, promotion is in the bag. And it's just a question of can we pip Plymouth to the title..?.. That's just my opinion.

No reason for anyone not to be confident. It's over confidents that can bring a downfall. As long as the concentration, intensity, taking chance and not making silly mistakes then we can all celebrate promotion come 5p.m. on Saturday .

Posh and Barnsley were both impossibly hard games, on paper, for the end of the season to try and secure promotion, yet we absolutely pi55ed them. The Barnsley game just epitomised everything good about us, we started well and could/should have been 1 or 2 goals up inside 15 minutes, fluffed our lines (as we have done numerous times this season in front of goal) they then took control for a good amount of the rest of the first half, but without really threatening a goal and where ITFC teams in the past would have folded mentally, there was clearly utter belief by every man in a blue shirt that if they just continued doing the same things, the result would come. 2 goals in what, 3 minutes, out of nowhere and it's job done. Second half the monkey was off the back and we just battered them all over the park, could/should have been 5 or 6 in the end (including missed pen).

Yes, it's only league 1, but this isn't the same ITFC that we've seen over the last 15/20 years that choke every chance they get to do so, the whole club is on the up.

I'm definitely still cautious, and I'm one of what seems a small minority unsure about the merits of lining the streets for the team bus when we're not yet over the line.

I get the sentiment, but would prefer to wait till the job is done before we start celebrating!

Bit of a misreading of the point of lining the streets, that's not a celebration so much as added backing on a vital day, least that's how I've read it.
