Well that was a very polite on 08:42 - Apr 30 by The_Flashing_Smile | Thing is, several of us said a number of times that a pitch invasion doesn't mean the awards won't happen. Some young people had some fun and nobody got hurt. Well apart from a few crybabies on TWTD still moaning about it (not meaning you, obvs, J2) |
It was selfish and unnecessary - entirely premeditated. Had it been a late winner with the crowd 'up' from the goal then it would be different. Some wannabes decided they'd run on a good five minutes after the others - just because they could. There was nothing spontaneous about it. As for 'nobody got hurt', it would seem that might have been luck -I saw at least one smoke bomb get thrown across the pitch which could have ended up anywhere/ hitting people. It was a brilliant day. Not spoilt by the above but not enhanced either.

Well that was a very polite on 09:07 - Apr 30 with 1938 views | BanksterDebtSlave | The saddest thing about this completely unnecessary outrage is that it has resulted in the match highlights on Sky ending with the sound of booing! It would appear that the Internet has now killed spontaneity along with so much more.

Well that was a very polite on 09:54 - Apr 30 with 1884 views | Herbivore | I had no issue with it. I didn't go on myself as we'd absolutely smashed Exeter so there was none of that spontaneous release of emotion at the end of the game, plus I'm in Section 4 where the fans with disabilities are at the front and it'd be really bad form to go charging through their area to get on the pitch. It was brief and very tame, the players still did the lap of honour, all good. Not sure why some are still clutching their pearls about it.

yeah a meteorite could've hit the stadium as well. Jesus wept, the state of this.

Well that was a very polite on 10:11 - Apr 30 with 1844 views | brogansnose | The World and his goldfish knew that there would be a pitch invasion, you could see the Exeter players legging it swiftish indicates that the club knew it was highly likely. The club won't get into trouble as they did everything possible and within reason to control the situation, no one was threatened, those on the pitch cleared off so that all the other proceedings could be carried out and some of our success starved fans had a celebration in the same way that fans of other clubs do on a promotion day. Yes, it as very polite unlike the time we went to Carrot road after the playoff game and their lot came onto the pitch uncontrolled goading us in the away end. It really wasn't a thing.

Well that was a very polite on 17:41 - Apr 29 by J2BLUE | Nothing to do with sleepy Suffolk. Most people were just doing as they had been asked. A few got on and had their moment, no harm done. |
Well said fella. Whilst I satyed in the stand (at my age would have troulbe making down to pitch side) a few (and it was a few) let their emothens take over, which was understandable when you considor the magnitude of what we'd just witnessed for the last 90mins on the pitch and what it meant for the Clib, the Town and Suffolk, from what I saw it was all good humoured, lasted barley 10mins and people returned to their place in the stands, to allow the rest of proceddings to go ahaed as planned by the mighty ITFC, Have a good summer everyone and see you next season.

I'll leave others to decide who looks silly here. We're finally out of the third division after a fantastic season. Job done.

Well that was a very polite on 18:03 - Apr 29 by Mullet | Thought the boos were a bit odd and the few stewards manhandling people out of order. Filming yourself though, not a fan of that. Go shake some hands and dance your way back to your seat would be my option. |
Perhaps those fans who feel they are entitled to invade pitch should "read the room". They are a small minority. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Could you please point out any cubs fans that have not gone on the pitch to celebrate promotion?

I do find that really hard to believe. It was inevitable, good natured and what every fanbase does to the point of cliche. Think it's a real shame that on today, there's people hung up and divisive really. If it'd been hours or something I get it, but the club weren't even prepared for the lap of honour. It was a right shambles!

Well that was a very polite on 19:59 - Apr 29 by Buhrer | I think that thousands of your fellow fans didn't value how you chose to make their "generational event" finish. Maybe they're wrong. Maybe you are. From the top tier it looked chaotic and selfish imo. Glad you had fun though, cos that's all that counts. |
Ipswich fanbase so strange part 5480 The club had asked people to stay in the stands. So what? Why are some people compliant? We hadn't had any semblance of success for 23 years so why criticising those who wanted to be on the pitch to celebrate such a rare thing for us. Should have they stayed in the stands and clap it from there? I have already seen it as that brings back awful memories in the shape of this fanbase clapping relegation in 2019 ! Yet another example of 'Ipswich fanbase being so strange'...... or another one as this fanbase barely voiced their displeasure over Marcus Evans and his destruction of the club throughout the years. This list can go on and on. Why is this fanbase so compliant and meek? So, so odd. Why such different than majority of other fanbases? Those who booed others for celebration are probably the same weirdos who had applauded the players for the relegation and its manner back in 2019. [Post edited 30 Apr 2023 14:22]

Well that was a very polite on 20:59 - Apr 30 with 1429 views | clive_baker | People running on the pitch to take selfies is pure cringe. I wasn’t booing, but as others have said the issue I have with pitch invasions and the prospect of them is at the final whistle everyone darts for the tunnel. Seems a shame to me, I want to see the players celebrate in that moment. I don’t really want to see a load of spotty oiks and overweight middle aged men blowing out of their backside on a football pitch. If I wanted that I would watch SIL.
