Warnock 07:48 - May 24 with 5741 viewsitfc_bucks

Hearing that Warnock is cancelling his speaking engagements, currently quite ill and exhausted following his job at Hudds.

Wasn't he due to be doing one around Suffolk somewhere?

Apols if this has already been covered.

He has a show scheduled early September in Ipswich.

Hope he is ok as I was looking forward to it.

Blimey. I hope he makes a swift and full recovery. I dare say Sharon might finally get her way, though!

I hope it's a case of needing a bit of R&R rather than anything more sinister. He's 74 and has done a fantastic job recently at Huddersfield. Probably a fitting end to his career really, it might finally be time for him to enjoy his retirement.

Would have loved to have him here, imagine how different things could have been if we had got Warnock in to spend the cash Keane got, or even to clear up Jewell's mess rather than Mick "give me a point and I'll not even get off the bus" McCarthy.

I'm sure I've read that he had a soft spot for us and wanted the job too.

I don’t understand the love in. He’s a ‘character’ I suppose, if that’s your thing.

He used to write (may still do so) a column in the Independent and was always very nice about us, and admitted he had a soft spot for us. I think the admission was when he was discussing the quotes about not getting out of our own half and we gave him hell as a fan base (which he enjoyed)

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

If you can’t understand or appreciate Neil Warnock then you are a bit blank.

IMHO obviously.

Wish he'd shown more of a soft spot before sending it his thugs to do a number on Shefki that time.

If he hadn't been maimed, we wouldn't have had to bring Scowie in and could have just sat on our deckchairs(TM).

That's definitely it for me. Ultimately it's an entertainment industry, especially to a neutral with only a passing interest in the likes of Cardiff and Huddersfield, and Warnock's never been vanilla. Give me him over the likes of Russell Martin any day.

Shefki Kuqi was injured playing for Town against Leicester City in February 2005. Warnock was managing the Blunts at the time so I don't see what that has to do with him.

I'm conflating two things - we did suffer an injury in that game and Kuqi did get smashed about, but it was Bent who got a nasty one in that game.

Kuqi went off at half time in that game against Leicester & then missed the next few games. We drew with Preston & then lost at home to QPR & Watford, which totally derailed our automatic promotion push. We then lost 1-0 at Wigan & I think Kuqi might have been a sub. He wasn't quite 100% for the rest of the season & I think his injury cost us promotion as we had such a thin squad & Scowie didn't impress when here on loan. Never mind, we'd have come straight back down.

When you start a new job and your boss introduces the team to you. Sometimes there’s someone who is described as a ‘character’. Nine times out of ten ‘character’ is code for ‘c**t’.
