I guess people are more interested in political corruption when it involves actual politicians. It's also a bit of a naff story really, he's done some shady sh!t (he's a rich white man, par for the course), has been caught and has managed to get a plea deal (fairly standard in the US, especially for white collar crime) that means he'll avoid jail. It's not a particularly juicy story really, he's been caught dodging tax and buying a gun illegally, he's owned up. What sort of coverage were you expecting? |

The Hunter Biden stuff is clearly an important story when you look at the historical background and context to it, who he was involved with when his dad was VP and the disinformation labels running up to the election. |
Because he was president of arguably the most powerful nation in the world and he stored classified documents in his shower? It seems like something people might be interested in.
Rather than the son of the President getting some tax-related misdemeanours and having a gun when he shouldn't have. It seems the tax-related stuff was in 2017 and 2018 when his father wasn't VP.
As far as exciting stories go, this isn't a big one. Tax avoidance is a crappy thing to do, especially as I imagine he isn't hard up for money, so good that he's getting his punishment although I imagine it'll be light. |  |

Genuine question, do you think someone not named Biden in the general population would avoid jail time over this? Assuming you’ve read about it what he has actually fessed up to in this. Try to reply without name calling or insults (if you have the capacity).

Know we have political people on here but Hunter Biden is very niche subject matter on a UK forum aha, I would be surprised if even half the country are aware who the father is!
My view from afar is I'm really struggling to understand how Joe has been deemed fit enough by his party to run again. His faculties were never his strongest asset and there is no longer confidence in him to even govern a bicycle. How has the situation developed in which both major parties are content with such appalling choices? It also looks to be the age-old tradition of powerful figures avoiding the usual consequences of their actions. US politics is deeply embarrassing across the board. Both sides in Washington spends most of their time trying to block the other side and nothing gets done. This administration is a joke with the Democrats having to trot him out time and time again and very absent VP. His approval ratings in his own party say the story.
The Republicans are still at the mercy of a most unpresidential narcissist to ever step foot in the Oval Office. Just a sad state of affairs. We will see if DeSantis can mount a challenge but the Trump charges are galvanizing his base. The media need Trump more than ever for this cycle, hence his recent CNN Town Hall. | | | |
