Basically he wanted out knowing he would be able to leave unless for some reason Chansiri agreed to pay him silly money.

Weirdly the few Wednesday fans I've seen seem to believe it's definitely true, which is odd given the past Chansiri antics. Or it is true that he asked for a large increase, but he was already on a low salary and just wanted a market rate? It's very hard to judge without seeing numbers. [Post edited 29 Jun 2023 16:25]

Yep, quick glance on Owlstalk looks like they are lapping up DC's statement and think he's done the right thing. Strange, given the hatred they had for him, suddenly everything he says is gospel!

But they didn’t have any time for Moore either. All a bit confusing. As for the claim re his contract, that’s what Chansiri says. Who knows the truth of it. What is certain is that airing this in public will not do anybody at Sheffield Wednesday any good. [Post edited 29 Jun 2023 16:58]

Darren Moore, the full story on 16:39 - Jun 29 with 4128 views | tractordownsouth | Seems very unprofessional to put that out there. He didn't need to go into details about 4x his salary etc etc, he could've just admitted they were unable to agree terms. They're an absolute shower and no decent manager will want to go there, which is why they've ended up with Dean Smith.

That would be my take on it, put forward proposals Chansiri wouldn’t possibly accept and get the hell out of there! It will be interesting to see how Moore responds to this, if in fact he does.

It could be nonsense. Orrrrrr, he wanted to leave, orrr his agent told him he's worth more than he is. Who knows. But if Moore has gone crazy and asked for a silly amount, I don't blame the chairman for saying no and making it public (otherwise he'll get it in the neck probably terminally from the fans). But frankly, Moore has always seemed like a decent guy, and these owners are often a bit off the wall, so I think it probably doesn't pay to rush to judgment before Moore has had his says. Or he may stay classy and retain a dignified silence, but then how do we know who the panto villain is?

If Moore walks into the vacant post at, for example, Leeds then he will have had his say in a good way, if he ends up managing a Fourth Division side (apart from Wrexham) or a club in the Scottish Championship then Wednesday will look OK despite this statement (unless they don't stay up...)

I saw a stat that said ave L1 salary 180 k and Champ 870k so there is some reasoning to it. But all depends what his starting salary is.

He’s right that people were jumping to different conclusions to that, but so be it that the nature of football. I liked this bit: “I was fully aware the fans would believe this is my issue but for Darren, there would be only good things because he achieved promotion.”. LOL, he obviously doesn’t know his own fans.
