Disappointing if so. Not overly impressed with the dealings this summer. As I said before, the only players who have agreed to join us are someone we had here last season, someone who we'd been tracking and courting for months from a lower division plus two youngsters who possibly had little interest elsewhere. Now it seems like (albeit we can't be sure) we've been beaten to the punch to another player we showed interest in.
Welcome to the Championship, I guess. Perhaps I missed it less than I thought.

Probably!
I'll be (slightly?) happier once we get a centre back through the door. I made the mistake of having my heart set on McNally once the link was reported, as he did so well last season for Coventry.
Truth is we may not have been interested in him or, as said above, wanted him permanently whilst Burnley only wanted to send him out on loan. [Post edited 31 Jul 2023 19:17]

McGuiness was such a weird signing back then. Not sure why we didn't go for a right back, if anything, so Chambers could play in the middle and offer some experience to Woolfenden. McGuiness was clearly an excellent player but having two players learning the trade at the heart of defence is rarely a good thing. | |

Camara and Ahadme did seem like panic signings after we failed to get, presumably, Taylor and Hirst through the door. We managed to turn it around in the January window, which must be one of the club's best ever. | |
