Could be out for up to “half a dozen” games - according to Alan Nixon.

Club telling me that's very much jumping the gun, nothing's changed from Kieran's comments on Friday as yet when he said he'd got a Plantar fascia problem. Possible he could miss games but not confirmed as yet.

"Christian has a little problem with his plantar fascia, so we’ll have to see how he is next week.”

McKenna: A Really Good Day For Us 28th Jul 2023 19:22
Boss Kieran McKenna hailed the Blues’ victorious Innsbruck Cup campaign “a really good day” and a “great experience”, Town having beaten RB Leipzig 1-0 and drawn 1-1 with fellow Bundesliga side Werder Bremen to carry off some pre-season silverware. 11

We aren't allowed to strengthen.... on 14:03 - Aug 1 by Kieran_Knows

Going to be quite a shock for a few people I think when they realise that the squad isn't quite as good as they think it is.

Do understand people's optimism and it's good to be positive but do find some of the comments, which seem to be shared by the majority going off social media, a bit odd.

Will be a rude awakening for some when, e.g., Burgess has a tough time against the likes of Ross Stewart and Chuba Akpom when they've seen him deal with some crapper from a rubbish league one team easily.

This idea that every player we don't sign having been interested in is someone we don't need because they're not right for us or we can do better is very strange as well. Some seem to think because we're Ipswich Town and we're on the up players will/should be falling over themselves to sign for us and they're crazy to consider another club.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

He's got the best part of 3 weeks to get ready for QPR away. If he misses the first couple of games it's hardly panic stations. Hladky's a capable replacement.

I don't think we'll finish as low down as that, probably around mid-table as things stand ... but I'm not quite sure it's mid-table were aiming for!

Got it. Was more curious as to the reach of Nixon and what contacts he has across the country.

From what I'm told it's speculative based on the injury we knew about. Far from impossible he could miss games with the problem, but not confirmed.

Don't you think that would be a successful transition back into the Championship? It's incredibly rare that sides achieve back to back promotions.

But we hammered Exeter.....!! (n/t) on 14:17 - Aug 1 by the_toff

Literally nobody is basing their confidence off 1 game against Exeter.

I do think we need to strengthen (and we will), but there seems to be a lot of bed wetting about not being equipped for the Championship which is nonsense.

Really? Players like Harness, Burgess, Burns & Donacien have spent the majority of their careers in League 1, is that a coincidence?

The 'squad' is fine if we want to consolidate and finish mid-table. I have no qualms with that, but for all the noise coming out from the club that we're going to 'attack' this league and want to push on, then I don't think the squad aligns with that.

As others have mentioned, still time though so hopefully we get some of these deals across the line that Ashton alluded to last week.

[Wasn’t meant as a direct reply to Chenners but the thread in general]

Jeeze can our fans get a grip.

If Walton is injured it would be frustrating but it’s not the end of the world or reason to lose all optimism.

One we don’t know how bad any injury is or how many games it could be. Hladky seems much more settled and more solid than when he first joined.

So much moaning about lacks of signings…. I posted at the end of the season that I couldn’t see mass changes and we may only bring 3 or 4 players and see how we go with what he have. Jan I expect will be a big window like last time. Ashton has already said they are working on players - some take time all fall through but they’ve done a pretty decent job up to now so have faith.

None of our injuries are expected to be long term although Clarke is many concerning.

I’m still optimistic and feel we have a good showing this season, 8-12th I think but maybe in touch with the playoffs and Jan could change that perhaps.

Roll on Sunday…. Excited.

I would say midtable is pushing on personally, considering where we've been prior to Gamechanger. To evolve from not getting in the playoffs in L1 to a similar level in the Championship would be a successful few years. It's always going to be a case of progression, and we're only just going in to our 3rd full season with them.

The players you mention probably aren't going to tear up the Championship (Burns might though), but equally they're probably not going to start for us most weeks. I also think the whole 'he's a league 1 player, he's a championship player' doesn't really ring true. It's so much about how we're set up, the cohesion, confidence, momentum. Sunderland fans were probably saying the same about players like O'Nien last summer.

Well it wouldn’t, there are plenty worse things that could happen. Disappointing and hopefully not too long if true but by no means disastrous.

Hladky looks far more settled and solid than when he first joined and hopefully can prove ample understudy for a few games.

Not much of a shock tho. We've only really bought 2 new players and one of them is a young keeper.

....I was unaware that during the first month of the season games are worth less points.

So if players are injured or we don't yet have a fully competitive squad, it's not particularly important.

Even at my age, I'm still learning!

Coventry, Sunderland and Luton all had plenty of players in their squads who came up from League One with them (Luton had one who'd been with them since the National League even!), doesn't define a player.

....saying that Walton has got 3 weeks to get ready for QPR.

We've got 2 games before that.

Plus literally dozens of fans keep saying that we need not worry about the lack of incomings because the window doesn't shut till a month into the season.

We've got 4 games before that.

Well the good thing with that is we've already got 3 points from beating Rotherham in the FA Cup last season as they were a Championship team don't you know, plus Vincent Kompany calling us good after being prompted to say something positive about us is worth a point so we can afford to take a couple of losses on the chin.

Players get injured - backup players who may not be quite so good come in - backup players sometimes exceed expectations just as first choice players sometimes disappoint - teams don't just fall apart like damp paper bags - but sometimes fans do.
