Pretty sure I saw someone.... on 14:51 - Aug 1 by Bloots
....saying that Walton has got 3 weeks to get ready for QPR.
We've got 2 games before that.
Plus literally dozens of fans keep saying that we need not worry about the lack of incomings because the window doesn't shut till a month into the season.
We've got 4 games before that.
Is there a purpose to all the worrying? You've used the word "need" here, so I assume the worrying fulfils some sort of productive function that the club can't cope without.

Chr1st, if some of you think this window is disappointing, how did some of you deal with the utter dirge we brought in under Evans. Doom laden negativity, and sarcastic hot-takes is BudgieInTheRoom’s job.

....or is it just fans expressing their opinion that they are surprised and perhaps a little concerned that we aren't going into the season as strong as they had hoped.
I know this place is a massive echo chamber for the majority of subjects, but I hoped football wouldn't become one of them.
All the noises from the club post season have been how we are going to attack this league and that we'd explore every avenue to do that.
If some of us think that's not happening at the moment then I'm pretty sure we can state that......or is it against your Ts & Cs?

He's got the best part of 3 weeks to get ready for QPR away. If he misses the first couple of games it's hardly panic stations. Hladky's a capable replacement.
I don’t think I have seen Hladky make a save for us yet.. every shot he faced seemed to go in!

I think it's fair to say, as pre-season comes to an end, that we are in a good place in terms of style, organisation and intensity of our play – but some way short of where we need to be personnel-wise.

You were the one talking about the "need to worry"!
Tbh, I don't know what there is to be surprised about really. Everyone knows the financial rules in this division are strict, so surely everyone knew that prior to big sales we'd have limited room to manoeuvre in the transfer market? Everyone knows that you don't instantly become a big draw as a newly promoted team, so surely everyone knew that more established teams might beat us to players we want.
It was always going to be the case that our league position this season would be mainly determined by whether our existing squad would step up. That'll be the case until we establish ourselves a bit more firmly and/or until we manage to sell a player for big bucks.

Certainly short given the noises at the start of the summer (attacking the league, not wanting to just stabilise in our first season) and the types of targets we were/have been enquiring about and going for. We were asking about the likes of Downes. We've tried to sign Simms, Trusty, McNally, Surridge. Plenty of time to go but hardly think it is controversial to say we aren't where we'd hoped to be squad wise.

We aren't allowed to strengthen.... on 15:32 - Aug 1 with 1544 views
As I see it there are only three certainties for the coming season in regard to where we will end up.
1. We will be nowhere near the relegation zone. There are sufficient weak and troubled clubs in this league to ensure that, even if they are laden with Championship stalwarts. QPR the most notable.
2. Injuries will come thick and fast as it is a long and intense season ahead. All participants will have them, Ipswich being no exception.
3. There is a January window ... if the last one is anything to go by KMc will have worked out any shortcomings in the squad and address them accordingly.

Can’t help but feel this is another summer window where they aren’t getting who they want.
This coming from the guy who said we would make 4 massive signings, one at least breaking our transfer record ! Care to tell me where your information came from ?
This is going to be a much tougher season than people think. It’s already proving that by the way the club is struggling to get transfers done.
Depends what you mean by people really.
Some people reckon we're shoe-ins for the Top 6, it'll almost certainly be harder than they think.
On the other hand some people think there's this enormous gulf that opens up immediately between 21st in the Championship and 4th in League One, that every club in this division has two and a half teams worth of top Championship players with minimal drop off between starters and reserves and if we have to start Donacien for 10 games we'll surely be in big big relegation trouble. It'll probably be a bit easier than they think.
