I had plantar fasciatis for 18 months in both feet. At times I could not walk at all due to the pain. No therapy or injections worked until a Polish locum doctor said if I could go private I should try ultra sound shock wave therapy. Fortunately my employer offered to pay (£60 a session, five years ago)as it wasn't available on the NHS at all. I had a dozen treatments and it cleared up completely and has not returned.
This is going to be a much tougher season than people think. It’s already proving that by the way the club is struggling to get transfers done.
On the other hand we may be pleasantly surprised - there's always a chance a youngster or loanee or two could step up - that Hutchinson lad looked pretty useful in the Innsbruck Cup.
No point stressing/giving ourselves ulcers about it anyway - nothing we can do except give our loud support to players on the pitch, & KM off it. The rest is pretty much -

It's like this every season - the club will say they want to sign 4 more players, they won't sign them and some fans will leap to defence saying that they didn't want the players they said they wanted.
Even last year, when we were clearly short at end of August window and signed Ahadme and Camara as obvious panic buys it will still seen as doing what we wanted to do.
The squad is in a decent place, no doubt, but there will be more frustration and disappointment with things behind the scenes than the minimal amount on display here
....or is it just fans expressing their opinion that they are surprised and perhaps a little concerned that we aren't going into the season as strong as they had hoped.
I know this place is a massive echo chamber for the majority of subjects, but I hoped football wouldn't become one of them.
All the noises from the club post season have been how we are going to attack this league and that we'd explore every avenue to do that.
If some of us think that's not happening at the moment then I'm pretty sure we can state that......or is it against your Ts & Cs?
There looks to be a bit of rallying behind this summer's transfer activity on account of it aligning with some posters' pre-season expectations, rather than those of the club. Ashton has revealed the minimum target this summer is 5-6 incomings, given we were on 3 when he said we want 2 or 3 "at least" before the window closes. He also said "we’re down the line on a few and I hope we get them across the line fairly shortly", alongside "we’ve got to really add quality now to the starting XI". I imagine he will be disappointed with where the squad is so close to Sunderland, without needing to be critical of himself or fellow staff in what's been a challenging window.

Maybe if you land all your targets you aren’t aiming high enough?

Is it worrying.....? on 15:27 - Aug 1 by jayessess
You were the one talking about the "need to worry"!
Tbh, I don't know what there is to be surprised about really. Everyone knows the financial rules in this division are strict, so surely everyone knew that prior to big sales we'd have limited room to manoeuvre in the transfer market? Everyone knows that you don't instantly become a big draw as a newly promoted team, so surely everyone knew that more established teams might beat us to players we want.
It was always going to be the case that our league position this season would be mainly determined by whether our existing squad would step up. That'll be the case until we establish ourselves a bit more firmly and/or until we manage to sell a player for big bucks.
All true - yet we do follow a club that in its recent iteration has persuaded more than one player that stepping down to L1 would ultimately prove a good thing.

The pitch in L1 was that we were basically a Championship club in every way except league position and paid salaries to match. It probably isn't that surprising that actually becoming a Championship club hasn't massively moved the dial in terms of the status of player we can recruit.

Wow I was about to say 8 months is far too long but 18 is awful, did they get to the bottom of the cause? If Walton has got it,its probably down to a big increase in activity and maybe even new shoes but you'd expect a professional sportsman to be aware of that! I had shockwave therapy on my back and it worked really well too
