Sunderland away is probably in the top 5 hardest fixtures in the division. Think we grew into it and were deserving in the end. Subs didn't really help us and a seriously dodgy decision on the Hirst challenge which should have been a penalty and maybe a red.
McKenna must have done a superb team talk with all those notes!

Looked more dangerous going forward and held out under a lot of pressure. Definitely need to improve and have a bit more quality in possession but that’s a tough game that I would have taken 1 point from so to come away with 3 is brilliant.

We absolutely deserved it. That's how you win away against a good side. Defended really well and keeper made a great save at the end. Sunderland had more of the ball but we had the better chances and should have had a pen and a red card earlier.
Only thing that went a bit wrong was the first 10 (nerves) and last 15 or so. Think mentally relaxed when they went to 10 and you can't do that as hard to switch back on. | | | |

Ladapo is a downgrade on Hirst though, I think that's pretty clear from the difference in work rate and the time he didn't look up to cross which was a guaranteed third goal.

The chance off the post came from him giving the ball away unbelievably cheaply in his own half. And previous to that let Roberts walk past him twice, absolutely powder puff.

I thought we deserved it. We created lots of opportunities and if the ref didn't suddenly misplace his testicles at 2-0 up then we get a penalty and possibly a red card as well. Nervy at the end but only really one clear cut chance which Hladky saved well, and even though we didn't manage the game well, we had two or three breaks where we ought to have got ourselves a third goal. So for me, very much deserved if a bit nervy. |  |
