Hutchinson Yesterday 15:10 - Aug 7 with 10467 views | Kentish_Tractor | What did you think of Hutchinson when he came on yesterday? Will probably get several negative votes for this but just stating my own honest opinion here. It might just be me - but to me he looked a little nonchalant / dissinterested, and I was expecting better if i'm completely honest. Either that or he was a little bit lost out there. Showed a couple of good touches but didn't pass when he should have and wasn't as committed to running back. He currently has the lowest player rating from our team at time of writing. I know he's young but he didn't look like he had that fire in his belly that some kids have. Now I don't know it's thats just because of the occasion, his natural playing style or just his newness to the team - I know we play a very intense game that he he is probably not used to. I need to state I'm not writing him off - it would be stupid to write off a 19 year old after 20 minutes of his senior debut at a new team. All I'm saying is I was a little disappointed with him yesterday. I hope he gets better as he gets used to us and how we play. What did you all think?

They've seen Humphrey's day in day out for over a year now and have chosen to bring Hutchinson in for a reason. Hutchinson hasn't had his breakthrough game yet, but we've already seen his first touch is a joke and he carries the ball with ease. Just enjoy the ride and enjoy it whilst we've got him. |
Didn't say I won't enjoy him whilst he's here. If he plays then of course I will if he plays well.

Not sure what you aren't getting on 20:42 - Aug 7 by FrimleyBlue | It's a shame. As I still don't see Humphreys as a cm. He offers so much more when higher up the pitch. |
I think it's a legitimate opinion/argument to want to see Humphreys play and rate him. They are very different players though. Humphreys is reasonably dynamic, good engine, very neat and tidy and has good range of passing and vision. On a good trajectory and has a chance. (Morsy and Luongo are getting older which will bring chances for Humphreys). Who knows, Humphreys and Taylor in a couple of years. Hutchinson is more a ball carrier and can beat a man and stretch teams a bit more then Cam. He's quicker. McKenna realises in the final 3rd we need pace and speed of movement. He offers that a bit more than Cam. Cam will need to find a position and nail it. Think more likely CM. Big ask physically for him right now

Hutchinson Yesterday on 20:04 - Aug 7 by FrimleyBlue | Why are people bemoaning peoples thoughts on a player following a game where the OP asked for personal opinions from that game. Not what they think the player will look like next week next month next year. Its in the OP. |
You don't have to respond exactly to the OP. You could challenge it and say "It's too early to tell" (which, to be fair, most have). The OP also doesn't mention Humpreys either, so your "I'm only going on what the OP asked" defence doesn't quite work.
| Trust the process. Trust Phil. |

It's enervating innit on 19:37 - Aug 7 by Horsham | The Frimbot isn’t always wrong, in amongst the indiscriminate spray of opinions on literally everything I find stuff like the interest in the new grass growing quite warming. I do also admire his energy and relentless moving on from being proved wrong and then doubling down on the thing he’s been proved wrong on. It really is quite impressive in a Trumpian sort of way. If Frimmers was a weapon (some may say he is), he’d be banned under international law and Assad would probably have bunkers full of him. If is indeed AI then he could be turned into a power for good if he was unleashed on the enemies of freedom and democracy and frankly he’s wasted here. |

Hutchinson Yesterday on 12:05 - Aug 8 with 1522 views | TalkingBlues | He’s no Rak Sakyi, that’s for sure, but also quite a long way behind RS on the experience curve. Yesterday will have helped alleviate some nerves and hopefully he’ll improve.

Hutchinson Yesterday on 12:23 - Aug 8 with 1497 views | Darth_Koont | Bit like Broadhead when he first came in. Clearly talented but not found his place/role/rhythm yet. Also, not an ideal debut for him (and for Harness and Ladapo too) to play largely on their own and on the break while we looked to protect the lead and hopefully coast to victory. I presume these three will be given more time tomorrow night and more time to bed into a typical McKenna Ipswich performance where we’re on the front foot as a team.

Hutchinson Yesterday on 15:14 - Aug 7 by SomethingBlue | I don't like ascribing traits such as "uninterested" (the word you mean) to players unless really necessary, and it's very harsh to set that hare running re Hutchinson even if you temper your post later on. It was definitely a mixed bag from him and he'll need time to get up to speed with the tempo and precision required, he's barely played any senior football. Kid has bags of talent, which we saw glimpses of, and we'll probably see the best of him later on in the season. If fans give him that long! |
No, I think he meant disinterested, just couldn't spell it.

Broady was a long way further along the career path, so I hope nobody’s expecting him to replicate that journey. That would be very unfair.

I think the definitive article 'the' is important here. 'The Frimbot' is here to stay and its glorious. Does the Frimbot have no physical form or is he some sort of advanced (or de-advanced) lifeform like the Predator who can completely blend in with the environment but when he reveals himself he goes hard with really 'out there' analysis causing similar levels of carnage.

Nobody knows for sure. Dyllers has a lot to answer for putting that idea into my mind! I was thinking a Walton(s) tribute of ‘goodnight Frimbob’
Hutchinson Yesterday on 23:29 - Aug 8 with 1252 views | Churchman | What did I think of Hutchinson on Sunday? Absolutely no thoughts on him at all yet. It’s way too soon. He is in what will feel a very strange environment, working with new people and for coaching staff he doesn’t know. He has to settle in, feel at home. He’s only 19 and in any case some people settle quicker than others regardless of age. I would add that how people appear isn’t always how they are. In work I was told I always appeared calm and relaxed whatever was happening. I wasn’t, it was just how I came across. In football take Jason Dozzell. He looked virtually comatose at times but he wasn’t. He was a good, effective top level player. Hutchinson has a heck of a lot to learn. He clearly has talent but in the brutal world of professional sport he will need to learn fast. He will and I’m sure he’ll enjoy it too. Who wouldn’t want to play for us, given the way we play at the moment? If he doesn’t, he will be gone soon enough. It’s how it is.
Hutchinson Yesterday on 10:48 - Aug 9 with 1114 views | jayessess | These sort of attitude assessments are always daft. He'll be desperate to make an impression here, his career will go nowhere if he doesn't.

True. Although I wasn’t thinking so much in development terms, more them playing in the same area of the pitch. That was the area that only really started to click with any regularity in the last third of the season. Before then we’d seen flashes but it always looked a tricky area for players (TJJ, Edwards, Chaplin, Aluko, Harness and even Broadhead when he first came in) to consistently deliver. That’s down to Broadhead stepping up but probably still more to Luongo giving us a much stronger structure and Hirst a sharper focus ahead. But I think Hutchinson could be the perfect understudy and a nightmare for tiring defenders. Not just coming on and looking for us to see out a game while the rest of the team behind stays compact and organised. [Post edited 9 Aug 2023 12:38]
