Best places to drink in Ipswich? on 21:22 - Sep 11 with 5572 views | thatbdude | The waterfront area has loads of great choices (i.e. The Lord Nelson, Isaacs on the Quay, Steamboat Tavern, The Gardeners Arms) Plus the town centre (i.e The Mannings, C*ck &Pye , The Plough, Swan and Hedgehog Inn, Arcade Street Tavern) Plus others like The Belstead Arms in Chantry, The Golden Hind in Gainsborough, The Fat Cat in California, and Man on the Moon in Whitton just to name a few.

couple of years ago the wife wanted to go in all the pubs in Town she'd never been in. After a few estate pubs, Smock, Kingfisher, Flying Horse, she had Brewers and St Jude on the hit list. Brewers great, then the St Judes barman got a foot long double ended dildo out to 'entertain' the ladies in the bar. Quite common apparently. She's not been back.
Best places to drink in Ipswich? on 08:28 - Sep 12 with 4800 views | DBaldy | IMO Arcade Tavern is the best pub in town & they have the broadest selection on tap, but depends what your tipple is. If you just want a pint of Guinness or CAMRA style real ale then it probably won't be the place for you. Crazy busy on matchdays though.

I'll have you know the Arcade is in CAMRAs Good Beer Guide, since it opened, so it's CAMRA approved. They serve 1-2 cask ales from local breweries but they serve them well, which alot of the pubs, who serve lots of cask beer at once often forget.

I went in there a few years back, probably pre Covid and was a bit weirded out by it. 1 and only time I've ever been, it absolute stank of farts which wasn't ideal.

Agreed, and depsite being great for cask, for some reason the Greyhound and Woolpack seem to actively avoid decent keg ales so Arcade is the pub that gets both right for me.

£1.95 pints, landlord Steve's arse crack hanging out the back of his shorts and the worst pub toilets imaginable. TWTD. [Post edited 12 Sep 2023 12:08]
