Team to play Rotherham? 12:18 - Oct 16 with 4110 views | Vegtablue | Hladky Williams Woolfenden Edmundson Davis Hutchinson Morsy Taylor Harness Ladapo Thinking: Wes injured. Oz play NZ on Tuesday eve so poss too soon for Burgess and Luongo. Rotherham likely to play deep and Freddie is our 'fox in the box'. Broady's had less time off than others. Not for me but will McKenna be tempted to reintroduce Walton, given Rotherham don't really press in the attacking third? They create so little and are averaging 35% possession, but have managed four positive results because they're the most clinical team in the top four divisions. 10 goals from 19 shots on target is mad! We would be on 39 goals already with that strike rate.
Team to play Rotherham? on 12:22 - Oct 16 with 3637 views | _clive_baker_ | I don't see why Walton would come back in now, it's Hladky shirt to lose until his form drops off IMO. I think Burgess starts too, seems a game ideal for his aerial ability. More generally I can't see us going with 10 men, I think we'll utilise the more conventional advantage of starting XI. Yes that's fair Clive. 🤣 I won't edit my OP but would like to add Chappers as my afterthought! 100% agree on GK personally. Only reason I wouldn't be shocked is because Rotherham play L1 football. And it's definitely best suited for Burgess but Tuesday-Friday is a short turnaround. Hopefully neither plays many minutes.

Play the first ten minutes with ten men and then bring on a sub (without taking anyone off) just as they think they have the set up sussed ?

Team to play Rotherham? on 12:58 - Oct 16 with 3439 views | acj | Dropping Hladky would be very harsh, but if he wants to drip in Walton for a game then this might be a good candidate - somewhat similar to bringing in Fridge for the Hull game. Rotherham unlikely to press from the front like most championship sides do, and more likely to launch high balls into our box, so might be the right opponent for Walton to be brought in for if he’s thinking about it that way. Even if he did, I would expect Hladky to be brought straight back in again next time out.

It's essentially no different a turnaround to us playing on a Saturday, and then again on a Tuesday night - just a couple or so hours difference, so I don't get that line of thinking?

It's the sleep disruption that comes with a late game and the knock-on effect for recovery, but I've probably produced the perfect blend of overthinking and underthinking in my OP let's be honest.

Team to play Rotherham? on 14:40 - Oct 16 with 2986 views | BigCommon | Hladky Williams, Wolf, Burgess, Leif, Morsy, Luongo Harness, Chaplin, Broadhead, Hirst.. Ladapo, Jackson, Hutchinson, Taylor, Humphreys, Ball, Clarke, Fridge, Walton. Don't think Burns will make it. There's an argument for resting Mass' and Burgess, depending on events on Tuesday.. But, if they are deemed fit enough to be in the match day squad, then they are fit enough to start imo. And I can't see either being totally omitted, barring injury. No signs or talk of Tuanzebe being ready yet, either... [Post edited 16 Oct 2023 17:53]

Was wondering whether they'd go with those two on the right hand side. Will be interesting to see. Otherwise I suppose Hutch for Burns (instead of Clarke) and Broadhead starts.

Heavy rain, high winds, Friday night in Rotherham, L1 style of footie. Not sure it's one for Omari.

Why not? Given we've never seen him in those conditions it's using a bit of a stereotype to say he won't be able to handle those conditions. People said the same about him not tracking back and being a flair only player and that was proven wrong. You may be correct but without any evidence I don't think we should jump to the conclusion he wouldn't be able to handle it. If anything, if the winds are looking awful we will want to keep the ball on the deck as much as possible (assuming the pitch isn't waterlogged of course). SB

I thought not one for Omari at first as well, (small, young flair player in bad weather conditions against a big physical side) then went through the same thought process as you. I suspect he's smart and well-coached enough to handle it and probably thrive in it.

There's looking to be a good chance that particular rain system stays further south now. Here's hoping....not so good for Suffolk and Hemsby though.
