Elkan Baggott is starting for Bristol Rivers tonight I might have a look at that game tonight.

Promise Omochere giving Elkan a lot of problems. Already on a booking for hauling back Omochere, he's just committed another foul on the same player. One more and he's off I'd imagine.

Yes agree I watched the first but it's not great I think Sky sports news for the rest of this evening.

I don’t feel Elkan will ever make the grade here.
Lovely guy but a decent League 1 centre half only.
Just a bit too clumsy and unable to sort his feet quickly which isn’t going to change now.

Agreed - you'll find most footballers (particularly centre-backs) are as good as they'll ever be by the age of 21

He's 21 and looks promising, it's too early to write him off surely?

He may not make it but we don't know yet needs a season playing mens football. In pre season he played quite well good with the ball at his feet maybe better with good players around him . But as a footballer you have to adjust to play against all sorts of opposition.

Centre backs tend to mature with age and experience

Quite, you only have to look at the difference in Wolfie after having played mens football at Swindon.

He may make it, he may not but saying at 21 a cb is at peak capacity is utter drivel. If anything, they mature later with many initially playing at full back due to the intense physicality of the cb position. It's rare for me to be so forthright in opposing a view, in this case I'll make an exception. Nonsensical!

^ Engage sarcasm filters, people.

I've not seen much of Baggott, but thought he looked full of promise when I've seen him. Great physicality for a kid and very calm. Don't know if the clumsy/slow feet quote is genuine or justified, but think how much the older Cameron Burgess has improved under KMc's tutelage and try applying that to Baggott.

Burgess wasn’t exactly a spring chicken when he joined us and his development has been pretty impressive. Giving up on Baggott at this stage seems a touch premature.

Agree , CBs take years to acquire all the skills to be a top player and often develop into captains.... Elkan Baggott will make a very good living from the game all being well based on the little we have seen of him but I think he has all the skills to play at the top level eventually.

Indeed, Baggott has played 20 games of senior pro football in his life. I hope he's good enough to keep his place at Bristol, then the learning could be invaluable.

CBs get better with age.

See Delaney and McAuley as examples.

You've cheered me up with that. I switched to CB several years ago; now I'm really chuffed to know that, at 70, I still have my best years to come ☺.

We have had CBs who can barely run, do a very good job for us so hope for you yet!
