Brandon Williams update in the Broadhead story 10:04 - Mar 8 with 17151 viewsitfcjoe

At this point, even if he is to get back I struggle to see him getting up to speed as will have not played for 3 months plus

Regarding right-back Williams, who has been back at parent club Manchester United since the start of January, McKenna, whose side will wear their white third kit at the Cardiff City Stadium, says there is no date yet pencilled in for his return to the club.

“No news, that’s with the Man United medical team and out of our hands,” he said. “To be honest, our full focus is just with the players that are here.”

Complete and utter waste of time.

Keeping him here was a stupid decision… did they pull the wool over our eyes on his ‘injury’, have we gone all out to bend over for MUFC, fck knows. But it’s a waste of everyone’s time and effort.

It’s not really that simply though is it. You don’t burn your bridges with a club like Man Utd (or any club really) as in the future any potential deals involving them will be a lot more complicated.

And, no one really knows what the issues are with Brandon Williams - could just be an injury or it could be an issue not as easily treatable. Either way, if the club gets a reputation as not being sympathetic if a player develops issues then no one will want to come here. The club still has a duty of care to him.

With all due respect, he’s not our player, a product of the academy, he didn’t get injured whilst playing for Town… so hand on heart I can say I don’t really care. It’s his own doing.

Ooooh, you're so hard! Give him a slap round the head, and send him home like a naughty boy.

Heaven help it if you have children that might step out of line sometimes.

i suspect there's no break clause hence why he's still here.

Unless McKenna has full faith in him and thinks he will be an asset for next year if he's on a free. There's a player there but need's to get over the 'injury'.

Reading between the lines, but I sense frustration in the final comment from McKenna, so I'm not sure whether he'd have him back now.

On your point about not the first, I had willfully forgot that we are still paying Paul Lambert I think!

I wonder when he will start looking for a proper job

I'm not sure its that straight forward to be honest.

Its a very unique situation, we cant just wave a magic wand, terminate an agreement and move on. Its far more complicated than that.

Where did I say we should physically abuse him for this?

And FYI - if the kids step out of line, I come down on them hard, don’t want to be raising horrible shts. You can ponce around bringing yours up as you see fit, I don’t mind.

Maybe next season a recovering BW will be available to us relatively inexpensively - so not too big a gamble, and a chance to rebuild his career which seems to be hanging in the balance. Could pay off for all concerned.

Hmm, perhaps my memory serves me better than yours. In a recent post you suggested he should get a slap round the head?

Apologies if I'm wrong.

Since we don’t know how or on what basis the decision was made, I think it wrong to call it ‘a stupid decision’.

Whatever decisions and arrangements were made I’m sure they were for the best interests of the player, ourselves and Manchester United.

The most important thing is the well-being of Williams and given the way in which the club does thins these days and that Manchester United are who they are, I’ve no doubt the best is being done for him.

In terms of ourselves, we have a large, capable squad, as has been shown in the last month. It’s a shame he is not with us because he’s immensely talented, but I doubt his loss will affect us too detrimentally if at all.

I am not aware of his situation, but whether it's this lad or any other there's a huge problem in football how these players are handled. Many I feel get too much too soon. Whereas years ago a young player maybe carried the footballs or kit for the senior players. Made to clean their boots and generally get the menial tasks now they swan up in flash cars, get far too much money and have endless free time to get involved in things they should not, Also I'd suggest the bigger the club the more they are paid and the less they are looked after. But then if you go back to the days of George Best and Rodney Marsh they weren't exactly saints. Utd just seem to have an overall wealth of problems on and off of the pitch.

Sometimes people’s well-being is more important than sport. It’s a bit of a cliche but I believe football and my team is the most important least important thing.

And as far as going up is concerned, I’m more interested in my club growing and developing, whether we go up this year, next or the year after. Because we will.

I am just, to quote McKenna, enjoying the ride.

Lol, I’ve always been that way. Just try to keep it under control.

But I don’t see why there’s an outpour of grief for BW. He’s a grown man, earning a fortunate, with the world at his feet. If he blows that opportunity, it’s on him.

It’s almost as if he’s human and being talented in a highly lucrative field is no barrier to injury or wellbeing.

Where is the outpouring of grief?! Just a few people with a bit of empathy (including who have experienced similar) have looked at the human side.

Mate, you can separate the two things (wanting success for your club and wishing someone facing some challenges the best). It's just being adult about it. Respect you being honest but you should work on that dude. Not trying to disrespect or patronise but it's worth working on and it is good for the old soul to be more empathetic.

Hey ho.

Wasn't it reported as an illness rather than injury?

That could cover a multitude of things of course, but probably also means that putting timelines on returns are nothing better than guesswork.

I hope he gets better and would love to see him back here tearing it up, which I think he's more than capable of. If not this season then hopefully next.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.
