Please for the love of god will people stop... 01:27 - May 21 with 19123 views | lizzibee | Just back from Dussleford to see endless threads and macabre posts about how McKenna has gone! He hasn't! He is still employed by Ipswich and there is nothing at the club to suggest to the contrary. A few lazy journalist posts, a couple of twitter ITK posts and beating odds which are just to make money and every one is all doom and gloom as though people can't make their own minds up just follow the crowd. Even the Brightn fans think we are an odd bunch. We sound like a bunch of kids No, I don't see him going - not this year. Did he look like a man wanting to leave when we beat Huddersfield (or the games leading up) no. He has invested in the club, chosen the players, helped design the new Playford Road etc - and this was even before we got promoted. Nothing will have changed. If he didn't have the backing of the CEO or investors, yes, maybe time to worry, but that clearly is't the case. His family are settled in the area and the kids at school/. Fans worship him and him back. Players totally respect him So why is everyone heated? He isn't a man looking for out - he is a man starting a journey and that I am sure is still with us for a while. Man U and Chelsea wont touch him - he's untested in this league and in fairness the league below and management. - too risky at the moment. As for Brighton -there is nothing much to worry about - its where the club want to be so why would he not do th at journey with us. People go this worried about Palace. He has just over two years in management - he's done amazing but is untested and still raw... Our fans like for nothing but to moan, panic and think the worst. As Ashton said, if it hasn't come from the club don't believe it. And no, we don't need the club to come out with a Statement. God, if I was McKenna and reading all these posts (plus other social media) I'd be thinking the fans don't really care as they are already sorting my replacement. And I'd bet he and the players do read all this. Can we all just grow up, stop believing social medial messages and actually listen to the club? And go back and watch all the interviews and see all the clip and ask yourself if this is a man who wants out, and cut his journey short?

Please for the love of god will people stop... on 11:01 - May 21 by Cafe_Newman | Everything in this world is both "10% likely" and “increasingly likely” if previously the likelihood was less than 10% and today it's 10%. |
You're just arguing for arguing's sake now aren't you? Technically you're correct of course, meanwhile in the real world “increasingly likely” never means "10% likely". Stop being silly.

Serious question: How do you quantify the likelihood of anything happening in the world?

Depends on the thing, the sources suggesting it etc. I wouldn't put a percentage on most things... but if I did, a 10% chance wouldn't be "increasingly likely". You must lose an awful lot at the bookies!

In fact, unless there's a discrete outcome (like with the roll of a dice) it's impossible to determine a "correct" percentage only an estimation based on historical results (as with computer modelling) or feeling or interpretation of comments by reliable sources. With an understanding of statistics (better than most) I lose nothing at the bookies but do quite well at poker actually.

This isn't me relieving my stress of making me feel better, it's just common sense. There's nothing in this world that is both "10% likely" and “increasingly likely”. |
I went for my first run in a few months this morning, am now increasingly likely to win next years London Marathon

Please for the love of god will people stop... on 09:59 - May 21 by Ryorry | Trying to be objective here “increasingly likely” can mean KM’s about 10% of the way towards leaving us for Brighton, or 90%. I prefer to believe 10%. Anyone feeling that makes me‘delusional’ is free to virtually shoot me if it relieves their stress and makes them feel better. |
Can i be pedantic and say for something to be likely in the context phil has used it, then it has to be greater than 50%.

Please for the love of god will people stop... on 10:17 - May 21 by ernie | Totally agree. Utter nonsense and all the hand-wringing going on on here is appalling. Has no one listened to a word KM has said all season? We are on a journey, he is enjoying the journey. He is on a journey himself as a coach and a person, every single day to improve. He is enjoying the process and not focused on the outcome (s). To decide otherwise and to leave would go against every SINGLE thing he has said this season, including after the Huddersfield game, 2 weeks ago. If he decides to leave, it will show he doesn't have much faith in his future ability with us, which we know not to be true as he is supremely confident in his own ability. His reputation will be much, MUCH higher showing loyalty, staying with us and succeeding next season. Have a little faith in the man and stop all this weeping etc, |
Your last paragraph has been going through my mind. I genuinely believe his stock would be higher in two years tine if he kept us up and established us, whilst showing loyalty to a current and therefore potentially different future project. If he really feels he wants to abandon us now, im thinking thats like saying he feels he cant keep us up.

For what its worth i was convinced he would never go to Brighton as despite the fit, there is no need for a stepping stone. I still think he wont and if anything this may be to flush out an offer from man u. But only one man really knows and sometimes as humans we make huge decisions on impulse.

Just a big debate whether he'll stay or go .... and using arguments for and against. Sounds reasonable. I find it more weird that some want to bury this news.... like it doesn't exist. Its been reported in daily newspapers... Talksport... etc.....its big national sports news ... why would we ignore that? |
Because its all hype at the moment, because there's little substance behind it. Because this is how newspapers fill papers with stories when the season ends. They speculate endlessly about players and manager appointments, and they feed off of each others speculation. How often has Ten Hag been sacked this year in the papers ? Still in his job isn't he ? How long did they speculate Moyes was off, 2 seasons before eventually Moyes lost confidence in the clubs support. Trust in McKenna, trust Ashton, trust Town.

It went downhill from there funnily enough. |

I feel the same; I think he could aim higher straight away (if Lampard could get Chelsea…). Who knows. I agree with the sentiment in the OP about the hand wringing. It gets a bit tedious, but I suppose it’s understandable. But it’s also naive to think he’ll stay because of the support he’s got from the fans or because his kids are in school. Things like this may have a small bearing, but it’s a cut throat business and people move around and have to take opportunities when they arise. It’s pointless trying to second guess what’s going through his mind.

1. Nobody's said their *interest* isn't "very real". Plus conjecture. 2. The talksh1te bloke is conjecturing, as per. 3. I've already commented 4. Joe's "feeling" is conjecture. 5. "I'm hearing lots of rumours and conjecture". I'll go with Ashton, the fact KM's on holiday & not in Sussex for interviews etc. (would be interested in any sightings of him "bumping into" BAHA connections at his holiday destination though); the views of the Brighton fans, and Brighton's own statement that there'd be many obstacles to overcome (or words to that effect) if they did or have make/made a play for him.
