What is the view on the above? I had some on the tomato and cucumber salad-ette with cold chicken, sausage and backed potato. Compared to the peppercorn and lemon mayo, I preferred it.
Two slices of decent white bread (not that brown rubbish with trill in it), strongest, good quality cheddar, a lettuce leaf (it’s only there for colour and conscience) and a thin layer of salad cream and you’ve a poem of a sandwich. If you want to up it a bit, thin slices of cucumber add crunch.

My father in law will drizzle salad cream over a fried egg, while on the rare occasion we have something quick like sausage chips & beans, my wife will nearly cover her plate in the stuff!
In their defence, they are both from King's Lynn, where I suspect salad cream is a delicacy.

‘Awful tack’? How dare you. Those geniuses created a fine product of genuine flavours and gorgeousness that has stood the test of time. And there you are promoting some other stuff just because it has an exotic name.
Ok when you are having dinner with the Duke of Tweedshire piping up with ‘pass the mayonnaise’ sounds far more posh than ‘oi, Dukey, throw down the salad cream please’, but you are still left dribbling tasteless French slurry all over your green stuff.
