Salad Cream 13:39 - May 21 with 2652 views | Churchman | What is the view on the above? I had some on the tomato and cucumber salad-ette with cold chicken, sausage and backed potato. Compared to the peppercorn and lemon mayo, I preferred it. Two slices of decent white bread (not that brown rubbish with trill in it), strongest, good quality cheddar, a lettuce leaf (it’s only there for colour and conscience) and a thin layer of salad cream and you’ve a poem of a sandwich. If you want to up it a bit, thin slices of cucumber add crunch. There you have it. Todays food advice. [Post edited 21 May 14:59]

No worries. Some seem to not have received the memo as yet. A good reminder.

I got that memo regarding salad cream and gave it another chance…it’s still utterly awful.
Salad Cream on 15:04 - May 21 with 639 views | DBaldy | My father in law will drizzle salad cream over a fried egg, while on the rare occasion we have something quick like sausage chips & beans, my wife will nearly cover her plate in the stuff! In their defence, they are both from King's Lynn, where I suspect salad cream is a delicacy. Only ever have it with an actual salad myself, serves a purpose but far from my favourite condiment.

But are they?……. Did you know that the nation’s saviour (it was popular in wartime to cheer up bland war time food) costs only £17.49 a bottle if you buy the 2.15 litre one? You know it makes sense. [Post edited 21 May 15:29]

Ahhh, what a combo!!! Worked best with plain crisps, though there was a lot to be said for salt and vinegar. Golden Wonder the crisp of choice, obviously.

Salad Cream on 14:10 - May 21 by Help | Can be a bit too strong and dominate the food. Also very vinegary. |
Possibly why it could work on chips but it is awful tack. Mayonnaise or, more appropriately, oil & vinegar ( with a little Dijon mustard ) is the only thing that should touch a salad.

‘Awful tack’? How dare you. Those geniuses created a fine product of genuine flavours and gorgeousness that has stood the test of time. And there you are promoting some other stuff just because it has an exotic name. Ok when you are having dinner with the Duke of Tweedshire piping up with ‘pass the mayonnaise’ sounds far more posh than ‘oi, Dukey, throw down the salad cream please’, but you are still left dribbling tasteless French slurry all over your green stuff. You need to have a rethink. Quality rant complete 😃🥲🤣😂😅
