Chelsea fans really really don’t want KM 08:47 - May 23 with 3966 viewsnrb1985

Protests about Boehly and the board now planned. Which is a big deal given Chelsea have such a placid fan base normally.

KM and his agent appear to have pulled off the remarkable feat of upsetting everyone here but also sounding out a club where the fan base don’t want him either.

An ex Tottenham guy and someone who has made it known their dream is to be United manager.

I keep seeing them refer to him as a bargain bin Phil Neville and have never noticed the similarity before, but can’t unsee it now

Potter 2.0

Replacing a guy who just won six in a row and working for an ownership universally disliked by the fan base. Add in that the homegrown captain in Conor Gallagher is about to be sold…not a happy home life.

Good luck to KM and his agent, hope they enjoy working for two egomaniac control freaks 👍🏽

I'm upset that KM is probably leaving, but I'm realistic that he wants to progress his career. People need to remember what he's done for us.

No-one will forget what he's done for us.

It's just that he'll never be revered in ITFC folklore as he could have been. Progressing one's career would be making the step up to manage in the top league IMO. Something we can offer with a huge pay rise on the table.

I think the response to McKenna is a bit misguided, but I can understand the anger at letting Pochettino go, given the injuries they've had and the significant upturn at the end of the season, it makes no sense letting him go. Objectively McKenna would be seriously underwhelming in their situation, particularly with the experience they had with Potter.

Not many coaches (if any) walk out on teams that have just been promoted. And almost none I can remember let their agent conduct such a circus.

Kompany had offers and was sounded out by Chelsea this time last year too. Stayed on to repay the faith shown in him by Burnley before getting the "big" job.

We can also remember what we’ve done for KM. The guy literally had carte blanche to design the training ground as he saw fit here. That, in addition to the new contract, the adoring fan adulation etc etc. It’s a two way street.

As Phil has referenced a few times now, this circus conducted by his agent hasn’t done him any favours.

"Probably"? Unless he's offered the ManU job, he's going nowhere (and that's not just my opinion).

Whatever happens, no true Town fan will ever forget what he's done for us in any case.

Saying all that, I’m not sure how the utter mess which is Chelsea fits into his plan. Maybe he’ll be a miracle worker there; he’ll have to be to last more than 12 months.

Agree.

Chelsea would be a hell of a risk given financial penalties lingering over them and the fact they sack a manager every 12 months or less.

That would be more damaging for him than relegation (if it happened) with us.

Neither McKenna nor his agent have upset anyone.

People have wildly upset themselves over a handful of articles (and a number of opinion pieces) about other clubs being interested in him.

What evidence have we seen that he is chasing Chelsea rather than the other way around? Same with Brighton? I say evidence, not supposition based him not having publicly rejected what may not even be concrete offers yet.

The two 'old timer' Chelsea fans I know aren't against KM as an individual, its more that they believe a manager of Chelsea needs more experience. Their point is Potter lost the dressing room as soon as he entered the building because he didn't have the background of success in top leagues. They feel the same about KM.
They're actually very complimentary about KM, but they feel he should stay at Ipswich, ideally keep them up, and prove to players he can at least operate at Prem level.

As both have said, players who join or thinking about joining a top team haven't got there by accident, they have worked hard to get there and probably experienced varying levels of mgmt as they progressed. They think players will see a KM appointment as Chelsea taking a gamble rather than a club aiming to win trophies.

Think that’s naive.

Even if you don’t believe me, Phil has already alluded to the fact that it’s his and the club’s belief that it’s his agent which has been drip feeding things to media.

Don’t believe me sure, but I assume you’d concede that Phil and the club have more knowledge of that matter than you or I.

I get that he wants to progress his career. Perfectly natural. Yes, we should not forget the great job he’s done for us to date.

And he should not forget what this club has done for him.

As for Chelsea fans, what a self entitled, miserable bunch they are. If I was to mention to most of them that I remember watching ITFC play there in the late 70s in front of about 15k in a broken brick, rusty barbed wire barn of a sh£tehole they’d declare I’d gone mad (we won 3-2).

Their minimum demand is top four next year. Ironically Pochettino might have got them to that. Not now. Not with an ownership as shambolic as that.

There is no ‘probably’ about it though currently when McKenna himself won’t even know what is going to happen yet and what he’s likely to do.
