Will Chambers be back? 14:45 - Jun 7 with 3565 viewswkj

Clearly the fella loves Ipswich by showing up on a bunch of programs as a pundit and behind closed doors events like Pat Godbold's Birthday. I have a feeling in my bones that Luke's return is a when more than an if.

Anyone know if he's doing coaching badges or the sort? I would love him to be part of the club when we win something as the poor bloke ran himself into the ground for us as a player during a time he's pretty much acknowledges was bad for the club.

I think he just about qualifies as a legend of ITFC, even if it was a period of purgatory

The club were advertising for a 1st team logistics manager recently - the role includes booking hotels, etc for away games but also helping 1st team players settle in and support them when they're here. As I understand it he's done quite a bit of the latter part of that over the last few years anyway.

There was some excellent interaction between Chambo and the lower north before the Huddersfield game. The lower north calling for a fist pump really loudly, Chambo trying to get us to calm down as we were drowning out trh broadcast. In the end he had to relent and give us a little fist pump. Cue loud chants of "one f***ing Chambers" while the Sky broadcast was live. He bloody loves it. Legend.

You’re asking for trouble really when you Mach a post like this.

I imagine he'll end up in a similar role to Simon Milton and Matt Holland as a club ambassador, matchday host, events host, etc as going to be a lot more of that sort of stuff to go around and he does it well

That thought never crossed my mind... I was too busy listening to what the BBC was telling me to do.

Chambers was a true professional, great captain and bloody lovely fellow who represented the club brilliantly during what is very much evident now, a time where teh club underfunded and poorly managed from the very bottom up.

Still love the fella, gutted we never saw more fist pumps, that wasn't his fault, look at the crap managers we had and when you get a good one, look what they do with the same players.

I think he should be invovled in the club in some way, forget the era, he speaks well and conducts himself brilliantly and always has represented the club in a positive manner, perhaps when he didn't need to.

Jesus, sounds like i've just given the guy a reference for the job lol.

Didn't mean to, just felt he took harsh criticism at times and was mostly unjustified or certainly without care for context.

Don't think he'll want a full-time role, has various irons in various fires and think he's happy with that. Think Joe may well be right that he takes on an ambassadorial role.

Would be a perfect role for him really, he's clearly passionate. Its important that the club has ambassadors across era's too, there's a generation of Town fans now who won't remember Matt Holland in a Town kit, let alone Milts.

He'd make a great mentor for the academy players. Proper professional and leader.

Truly impaired.

If he does I think it will be in the PR side, which he seems very good at.

Or he could be teaching Harry how to fist pump properly!

Given that we will be on Sky a lot more, can see him being the ‘go to’ Ipswich man in the studio next season

Which will be a nice little upgrade for him. Much higher profile.

I thought he spoke very well on the video for Pat Godbold’s birthday. He is a very positive, articulate advocate for our club, and represents us, the town and the county very well. Not sure I know what role, but I do know I want him involved.

396 appearances, 9th on the list. Club Captain for most of those.

I don’t know what happened during the dark years of Hurst and Lambert and what his part was. It’s in the past now, best left there, and only he and those there truly know anyway.

What I do know is the first line of this post. I saw the majority of his home appearances and a few away. I never saw him give less than 100%. He drove his team with his personality and commitment. Decent player too.

Chambers obviously loves the area and the football club. Kayden Jackson in his interview gives a small insight on him as does the footage of him at Pat Godbold’s birthday do yesterday. Whatever LC does in the future, I hope the club is able to embrace whatever he has to offer, as it’s done with Matt Holland and others.

Absolutely a club legend and welcome any time.
