Ipswich striker Ahadme set join Charlton

Gassan Ahadme will leave Ipswich and join Charlton Athletic in a deal worth £1m.
The striker joined Ipswich from Burton in 2022 for £300,000 but only made eight appearances before loans elsewhere.
A medical was done yesterday.
Charlton earlier announced the signing of Matty Godden from Coventry City. It comes as striker Alfie May is set to join Birmingham.

It's really good to see that Ashton is fighting our corner to get a decent fee wherever possible, even though we're now getting used to 8 figure transfers rather than 6 or 7!
It's a good deal for us if the figure is accurate. If he stays injury free and hits the ground running, Charlton may well end up being very happy with the buy. But if it is £1m, that looks a stronger deal for us than them. |  | | |

He scored 11 goals in 29 appearances last season whilst still only 23. A good signing for Charlton, a player I think will be playing Championship football in the not so distant future.

There's definitely something there with Ahadme. I've never seen anyone cause Wolfie to look so uncomfortable when he played for Burton against us.
I'm sure Charlton fans won't be happy reading social media and the responses such as 'useless' or 'had their pants down' but this is just because he didn't do it for us in limited chances he had. | | | |

He was really unlucky to get injured so soon after joining us really.
I was right behind the goal at Burton where in that first half Ahadme absolutely bossed both our centre halves. Woolfie looked like a pub player and Ahadme seemed to flick on, head and hold up everything.
Then he comes here, gets injured, Hirst comes in a bit later and the rest is history. Expect he'd have really pushed on for us and he started that season brilliantly. Looked okay also for a Cambridge side struggling so I wouldn't be surprised to see him become a 15-20 goal a season man at that level for a top six side.
£1m seems incredible. £500k would have been fantastic but there we go. | | | |

I wonder if there's a bit of a McKenna tax going on now.
Do you think clubs actually look at what we've done, see Ahadme and think bloody hell if McKenna wanted him then there's a player in there.

13 goals in 23 starts for a weak team in L1, some really good finishes, 23 years old, strong and mobile with a decent touch. Hasn't done much for us, but could easily get 20 league goals and get Charlton promoted. |  | | |
