With the keeper position so integral to how we play, I just can't see it with him personally.

No, just wouldn't work with how we want to play.

Also one has to ask why he hasn't played for the last year.

Whilst he was a very good shot stopper, signing him just wouldn't excite me at all and we could make far better use of the significant wage he would demand.

He wasn't faultless either, can't imagine how our fans would reaact to him making a ricket based on the treatmet of Vaz from 'some' of our fan base.

So not for me.

Truly amazing to think we would even be in the market for signing *David de Gea* of all people, never mind that some people think he may not even be good enough for us.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

I'm sure signing a keeper who wanted £200k+ a week won't upset the apple cart

He's consistently shown he can't play out from the back and about as far from a sweeper type goalie you can get. Would be a terrible signing.

To be honest, his ability to play out from the back isn't great. Honestly don't think he'd be a good fit, you saw last season the impact Vas had.

I thought he was just overwhelmed that they'd done it. To go from sub keeper last year to on the cusp of being a Premier League keeper is incredible.

It would probably be cheaper and more useful

There's not a GK who doesn't make a mistake.

There isn't even a footballer who doesn't make a mistake.

Actually I've never watched a game of football where any player didn't make a mistake, ie poor pass, misjudged on tackle etc etc.

Trouble is when a GK makes a mistake it often results in a goal.

Also not convinced De Gea is even bothered about football now. I think he would view it as a final pay day for a kick about

Know this is a silly suggestion but De Gea would be one of TWTD's most disliked keepers ever IMO. Quiet as a Carthusian for one, makes our Vas look chatty, and in several seasons he didn't come for as many 1 in 100 crosses, glued to the goal line even in his pomp he was. Best shot-stopping feet in the business though.

Yes, the statement would be: Ashton and McKenna have lost their marbles.

Fine as a backup if he plays for peanuts though.

David Raya confirmed at Arsenal just now.

I wonder how much Aaron Ramsdale on loan would cost?
