What was our most protracted signing ever? 17:18 - Jul 10 with 2814 viewsRyorry

From first approach to signing on the dotted line - would Philogene be in the top 10 of contenders if the deal were to get done?

I doubt we know. We may well have had many, many signings as convoluted or worse than the current one. Except we simply won't know what happened in an age before constant social media speculation, AI-generated news garbage, agents sending whatsapp messages to journalists to spread misinformation, and internet forums with a thousand fans who have to post constant inane thoughts because they think an actual human being with a family and life concerns can simply agree to up and move in the few minutes it would take to sign a player on the Football Manager computer game.

McKenna (the re-signing) was quite some soap opera…will he go, if so will it be Brighton, Chelsea, or United after the FA Cup final. Possibly not as long temporally as others, but felt like a lifetime!

Sean St Ledger. Pretty sure that Phil had "TWTD understands a deal t bring Sean St Ledger to Portman Road is imminent" on repeat for three consecutive seasons.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

People need to understand this is how almost all transfers will now be. We have had a few years of them keeping everything under the radar but that simply won’t be possible on the most famous sporting competition in the world. Many need to learn patience and to not be on here every 10 minutes.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

The prat from narwich who decided at the last minute not to sign after taking the whole summer to make his mind up …. Then there was the Saints player Cashloul who gif the same thing. But this Hull player and more specifically his bloody agent have taken it to a whole new level.

Tbf, I've previously always completely ignored transfer stories on the basis of que sera sera, why waste time on something I've no influence in, I'll know soon enough - but after 22 years' absence from the Prem, it just seems so crucial to get our ducks in through the door that I've been sucked in!

Wasn't Norris a very long and protracted process?

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

I seem to remember the Boyd, Taylor and Henderson deal went on for ages.
Jewell just wouldn't let it go and ended up with just one of them.

That was going to be my suggestion. Just checked: TWTD reported our interest in mid-December 2007, Norris was dropped from the Plymouth squad on 5th Jan after bids were submitted but he didn't sign until 31st Jan.
