I don’t know whether I’m angry or sad 22:06 - Aug 4 with 23302 views | The_Romford_Blue | This whole week with the stuff on the news is really just awful. I’m seeing video after video after video of gangs of 100+ scum looking for random people of colour, or Asians or anyone they believe isn’t one of their own. These people are scum. We know that. Tommy Robinson/Yaxley Lennon should be serving time for inciting this. I’d say he’s the most dangerous person in England right now and his followers are akin to a cult. Likewise the hundreds of others in recent terms who have stoked this fire should be in a cell. Suella Braverman, Pritti Patel, Dan Wootton, Nigel Farage. All of them. We have politicians saying this response is ‘politically justified’. We’ve MPs voted in fairly and squarely actively encouraging this.its abhorrent that this is now normal that it’s not an isolated incident. It’s actually now the norm to hear a politician being openly racist to gain support of the far right. It’s the norm to see thugs chanting about wanting their country back. It’s the norm to see migrants being targeted. It’s the norm to see people being abused for the colour of the skin. I can’t help but be overwhelmed with pure anger and hatred for what those with influence and power have allowed to happen for what would be normal everyday people turning a blind eye to what is happening right now on our streets to let these thugs get away with doing this. But what is horribly horribly sad is that there are so many innocent people now getting attacked on the street. Just today I’ve seen a car smashed in because the driver was Asian, a black guy attacked by 20+ blokes for asking why he’s being racially abused, an Asian guy with his earphones in punched in the face when minding his own business, a taxi driver crying that he’s being abused every day this week and then at the end of the interview that actually happens to him again, a hotel set on fire with children in and a mob blocking the road and only letting white people drive through. That’s just today. I’ve said before my best mate is from Kuwait and the thought of her sitting at home today and not going on her family walk that they’ve gone on for years and years (of which I’ve joined on dozens of occasions) across the nicer parts of greater Manchester just because ‘it’s not worth risking it’ makes me feel ashamed to be English. I know it’s a minority acting like this. But if this was happening in Hungary or Poland or whatever we would watch on the news in disgust and wonder how did it happen on mass. And yet now it’s happening daily across England. I could just turn off the news, twitter etc but that won’t change anything other than make me oblivious. But what is happening right now in my opinion is the lowest point in the history of ‘Great’ Britain. It’s terribly sad.

I don’t know whether I’m angry or sad on 22:32 - Aug 4 with 9199 views | textbackup | Have you not seen the videos of the same number of men (but the other side) armed with weapons? Hard to miss. The entire thing is awful. In all this all I can think about is the parents of those three girls, and the poor damaged girls that were caught up in the events of Southport. Because their memories do not need to have these events associated to them

I don’t know whether I’m angry or sad on 22:37 - Aug 4 with 9154 views | BondiBlue | From a very australia-centric point of view, the UK is now a country that i'm not sure we want to align ourselves too closely with. Too unpredictable, too racist. Breaks my heart to say that. Not a great feeling as a migrant to lose that sense of pride in where you come from.

How painfully predictable that someone would come along and try and 'both sides' this. Maybe if right-wing thugs weren't out in force attacking anything brown, be they Muslim immigrants, British Asians, or just a nice pair of tan brogues minding their own business in the local ShoeZone, the 'other side' wouldn't feel the need to take to the streets to defend themselves and their families. Whilst I get the point about the UK, this is the same Australia that has voted down more of a voice for it's aboriginal population AND has one of the toughest approaches to migration?

Surely you can see the group you’re talking about have gone to defend their mosque knowing a protest was planned for that exist place by the far right and that likely would’ve resulted in it being damaged. Those poor kids deserve so much better than the scum who turned their vigil in Southport into a hate campaign and have subsequently then spent the days after continuing to rampage their way across the uk scaring anyone not white British into wanting to stay at home fearing they’d be targeted randomly. My friend certainly shouldn’t have to not go on a sunday walk she’s gone on with her family for 10+ years because there’s the very real possibility that one of these mobs will see her and attack her. Like they have done today on hundreds of occasions. At least 20+ videos just of that today are circulating on social media and is now the norm. You’re a good bloke texters but there’s absolutely no defending this. It’s genuinely saddening.

Indeed, definitely a strange take There are apologists out there sadly, the same language seems to be repeated by the far-right trolls too 'Two-Tier' policing (the marches against Gaza didn't see people lobbing bricks at police and setting things on fire) Starmer didn't condemn the Leeds riots (which he of course did)

To confirm, it’s ok to take to the streets, armed, in any situation?

The other side? Do you mean people going out to make it clear that these people are not wanted, not normal, not "the silent majority" and not to be tolerated? Can't blame them. And to suggest they are somehow equivalent, which is what you are hinting at (Farage style) is disgusting.

No, I mean those gangs arming themselves with weapons. You must have half a brain to log on here, so use the other half to locate the videos online, easy enough to find.

they wouldn't be out there if the far-right weren't rioting would they? I still can't get my head around the attacks on mosques despite the Southport attack having no links to Islam It's just an excuse for them to push their dark agenda

There shouldn't be any 'sides', we all live in this country together, live, work and pay taxes, if some of those people are feeling threatened to the point they need to carry something to try and keep their family safe then I'm not sure they are the ones to be criticised.

The final part is exactly what I was saying, both sides have absolute wronguns associated to them, hell bent on causing division and hate. Regardless of if the ‘far right’ were out in force, I’m not entirely sure anyone should arm themselves with bats and knifes. This seems to be ok on here tho. Who on here owns a sword? Not me, so why have some found it so easy to get their hands on them. Highly doubt that would be the view point if a Villa fan (for example) was caught with a knife at PR, and we went to Villa park mob handed with knives in return. [Post edited 4 Aug 2024 23:13]
