Guessing I'm the only one who thinks that cross was murics ball to claim? (n/t) on 17:00 - Sep 29 by FrimleyBlue | It's funny tho coz the ones who said they didn't like wolfy being blamed for everything. They do it themselves to o shea just for breathing. I see no comments at all about how solid a job our defenders did against a championsleague side overall. There were 88 minutes of football where the defence were incredible today. |
Not only was it a tactical masterclass but Muric didn't really have to make a save. We kept their most creative players quiet and literally was just one error for the 1st goal and then a brilliant cross and thats it. Davis was never out of position but galloped down the wing constantly and Axel was just superb. The two other CBs were really solid, good positioning, good on the ball too. I think we basically won every dual, Duran didn't get a sniff. Just literally one clearance.

Agreed, the only place he could possibly have got that ball is directly in front of Watkins' head and not before.

My immediate reaction was that it was just a really good cross, but I’ll reserve judgement until I have seen it back on TV

Now I've got home and watched the Sky highlights I'm inclined to agree. Seeing it again, and from a different angle, it was just a fantastic ball and not a lot either Muric or the defenders could do (other than a worldie clearance or save).
| Trust the process. Trust Phil. |

Now I've seen it on TV. Sorry, no way is that down to the keeper. It's a great cross. If anyone is to blame it's the defenders

I think you've incidently missed all my posts today other than this one. This wasn't to blame muric it was more a case of defending the defenders Involved. Apologies you felt it was different.

And those who rip Woolfenden apart for breathing are suddenly very defensive now about his replacement. Funny that. I like Phil Jones' assessment on Match of the Day. Davis should have stopped the cross, Hutchinson should have watched the free man (which didn't matter in the end) and it may have been better if O'Shea had moved across allowing Tuanzebe to man mark Watkins. But the cross was a quality one and took them by surprise. I'm trying to make peace with Woolfy only playing for us again in the league if O'Shea is injured, suspended, or it's an end of season game that doesn't matter. It's difficult but I'm trying. And that was O'Shea's best game for us by far in general.

Davis didnt effect the cross, gave him too much space, and O'Shea was totally lost. Having said that, if Davis continues like yday he is a certainty for an England call up.

Don’t think anyone has been slagging O’Shea off here? Just correcting your post blaming Muric
Guessing I'm the only one who thinks that cross was murics ball to claim? (n/t) on 12:19 - Sep 30 with 753 views | Europablue | The problem is that there are two defenders and neither is man-marking Watkins. I wondered if the keeper could have come, but that isn't his fault, rather it was not marking properly. I think Muric overdid the coming out (as he seems to have the instinct to do) against Man City, and he is overcompensating now. It was a great ball in, but between the three of them no-one claimed the ball and I suppose one might suggest that Muric should have taken control of the situation.

Didn't say anyone was slagging him off just quick to put the blame on him for an excellent cross. And it's not a correction either btw just an alternative opinion. I still stand by mine that muric should be getting there but he doesn't really move with the cross. But hey that's why we love football. All about views eh [Post edited 30 Sep 2024 12:32]

Probably anticipating the shot but seems to dive too early and gives himself no chance. Also the cross for Watkins goal, not sure he could of reached it as was a hell of ball whipped in with pace and landed on a sixpence between 2 defenders and the keeper. If anything it was Axel who got caught the wrong side.
