Thanks. That Frobishers Cherry looks incredible. I'm guessing Frobishers isn't the family name but the effect it as when drinking it?

Lunch on 15:11 - Oct 11 with 1333 views | _clive_baker_ | I've been on back to back calls most of the day from home. Finally went downstairs at about 2:30 to make myself some lunch and sat there was a cheese & chutney sandwich, packet of salt & vinegar crisps and can of diet cola lovingly prepared by my wife before she went out. I'm hoping it was for me otherwise I'm in trouble.

Lunch on 14:29 - Oct 11 by The_Flashing_Smile | You should probably do a bit of research then. Just a quick google wouldn't take long. You've also done the classic TWTD thing of exaggerating to extremes to counter my point. I haven't said you should "spend your entire life not eating the things you enjoy" and I haven't said it's "to be uber healthy " either. It's pretty basic stuff knowing that bread, crisps, fizzy pop and chocolate bars aren't healthy, but I'll leave it there as I appear to be upsetting people and that wasn't my intention. |
Nowt wrong with a sandwich IMO, especially with wholemeal bread and a balanced filling. I've ran 30 miles this week and I'm doing another 8 tonight and often fuel them on carby sandwich lunches. Admittedly the crisps aren't great but they've always been my weakness.

This isn't a dig, I'm worried about you! Today I'm having smoked salmon omelette with fresh chives off the window sill. Lady Dollers is having the onion and chestnut mushroom soup I made yesterday. |
Tined steak and chips - with bread and butter.

Absolutely. Breaded pollock fillet and potato wedges with petit pois and steamed broccoli plus half a stick of, uncooked, celery. Followed by a pear, a coconut macaroon and three squares of Mackie's seventy per cent cocoa chocolate. Last cup of the filter coffee as a drink. [Post edited 11 Oct 2024 15:34]

Lunch on 13:31 - Oct 11 by Trequartista | What's wrong with bread, crisps, fizzy drinks and chocolate bars for lunch? Lots of people enjoy them (outside London anyway) myself included. It's only lunch, it's really not going to take years off your life. |
I f you had that every day maybe it is a problem. But, if you're like me, on Saturdays it's straight down the pub for a skinful and pork scratchings and Sunday it's roast chicken/beef with all the trimmings. So not every day. Can't see the problem.

Agree with that. Fun food is ok every so often. Golfing in Spain next week so it’ll be god knows what and beer all the way. Today’s fodder though will be fruit yoghurt and crumpets slathered in butter (Warburtons, well toasted) for brekkers. Lunch - home made carrot and coriander (or something) soup with a hunk of fresh bread. Dinner - a home made keema curry with a courgette and potato curry, onion splat and a couple of glasses of white wine topped off with a tot of Glenlivet.

Lunch on 13:42 - Oct 11 by soupytwist | I've had a tin of mackerel in olive oil in the cupboard for a little while so I drained the oil off the fish, mixed it with some soft cheese, parmesan, chopped up little tomatoes and black pepper, popped onto some toast and under the grill. Very nice. |
Did you keep the mackerel in the fridge or just throw it away? I guess the oil gave you a fishy tang to your meal.

That really is a lose-lose isn't it? I am guessing your safest option was to make another one and hide it away so when you said how lovely it was and she reacted in horror you could go "It's OK, you didn't really think I would have eaten it, did you?" and if she didn't react that way you would have had a ready-made one for today (as long as she didn't find it).

That’s useful to know. MrsC is in Suffolk with me for a few days in November including a morning in Ipswich - she likes Italian nosebag as do I so we might do lunch there. Yes, it can be a bit dull, but when it’s good, it’s food of the gods.

Kwan Thai is great. I used to go quite a bit but got out of the habit. I did though go in one evening last week and it was as good as ever. Make sure you have some Weeping Tiger Beef, preferably with sticky rice. His set menus are spot on.
