Booing the knee from itfc fans? 18:10 - Oct 20 with 27625 viewsMullet

Was this particularly widespread/loud? This clip seems to pick up one fella or so. Obviously, anyone doing it is an ignorant prick but I’d hope it’s totally isolated.

A racist. A homophobic. Somebody who doesn't like anybody who isn't perfect. (in their eyes only)
Booing players taking the knee is just an absolute insult to all those that suffer bullying and inequality in life. Only those who have never experienced it would ever consider doing so. Life isn't perfect for most, but for some, it is almost unbearable. Maybe consider that before writing such vile comments on the internet. Just because we can't see you, doesn't mean we can't judge you.

A racist and a homophobe? I’m nothing of the sort. It’s clearly just a fad. If it was a real stand against racism then I’d be incredibly supportive, but it’s not. It’s just a fashionable response to a real issue, highlighted by Colin Kaepernick almost ten years ago. You cannot equate the experience of oppressed black Americans with that of professional footballers in the U.K.

Yes the point you make about remembrance day is a good one. Some people wear a poppy. Some people don't. No issue with that. But no normal person would boo a minute' silence.

i was at derby when we played them immediately after maxwell's death and the home fans didn't observe the minutes silence! unless a repetition of 'you fat bast*rd' is considered respectful over there.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Are you suggesting that of you are a wealthy black footballer playing in England you can't be a victim of racism?

I agree with that, and neither would!I! The connotations if kneeling have gone way beyond their original meaning, however. I wouldn’t wear a poppy either, but I respect your right to do so. I also wouldn’t comment on it, but if someone wanted to, then they can.

Eh, you literally posted it deserves to be boo'd. It's there in this thread for anyone to see. So my point why would anyone boo is a completely logical response. You are saying people should boo! Dear oh dear.

But it is a knee (stand) against racism. It's not a stand against just racism to professional footballers. Anyone can be and have been victims of racism. It's a strange opinion to take "deserves to be boo'd" just because it's professional sport using their platform. Its a couple of seconds. There is no negative. It puts absolutely nobody out.

If it makes just one person in the stadium think twice about the inequality some experience in life, then it is a worthwhile cause. I may be thick and gullible, but that doesn't make me a bad person. Somebody booing or thinking it is ok to boo these actions make them a bad person in my book.

I agree. “Deserves to be boo’s was wrong”. Should have said, “are entitled to boo if they want”. It’s become a political statement, not a n anti-racism gesture. I blame Starmer

A few years ago two black footballers missed their penalties in the final of the Euros - you recall what type of abuse they received?

Many football stadiums around Britain and Europe. It was worse years ago, so things are certainly better now, but far from eradicated. I may have been a bit hard on you since you have retracted some of what you said, but nobody should be offended by those taking the knee.
