............but apart from that

BTW - Beattie and Hunter would do it on a weekly basis.

Can't remember Beattie or Hunter going in so high, studs up, that it was a question of whether they did in an opponent's knee or his manhood.

Idiot fan. We're on show to the world and this eejit does this. Headline news. Not a good look for our great fans who once again did the club proud today.

I like the fact that posters have moved the conversation onto something that happened 25 years ago that didn't remotely involve town or the incident yesterday as some form of justification.

Fan berates another person who is trying to do his job, not really on is it not matter how you spin it.

As someone said, just behave yourself, it's embarrassing for a grown man to do that. Have some respect for yourself and be better and don't make everything about you and your actions.

Haaland tackle?

Cowardly.

See the way he disappeared at PR when Titus stood up to him?

He's a bully.

Haaland tackle was horrendous, admittedly...

But, the same Haaland stood over Keane, who had just torn his ACL, but didn't roll around like Amad, or Garnacho did yesterday, after barely being touched and accused him of faking an injury! That lacked class too.

Keane remembered and wanted to do him... It was Cowardly, but so was Haaland..

Wasn’t Keane’s foul on Haaland retribution for a previous incident though? Haaland stood over Keane giving him abuse for play acting when in fact Keane had ruptured his cruciate ligament.

Two wrongs etc. Obviously very poor, not classy from Haaland, but completely incomparable with the deliberate, studs up hammer blow at knee designed to severely physically injure, by way of cold-blooded retaliation.

Just been watching Blue Monday where Dave Diamond says the fan shouted, "Hey Roy, are you going to explain to Jamie how sh!t you were as Town manager?!"

Loads in this thread attacking the fan (some even saying he should be identified and banned) and defending Keane... but I actually think that's quite amusing. Most people on the receiving end of that would laugh it off. Keane offering the bloke out in the car park for what to me sounds like a jokey comment is a bit pathetic and childish IMO.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

i don't think from what ive seen there's any conclusive evidence he was 'offering the bloke out', It might have been to talk about the comment.

'Hey Roy, are you going to explain to Jamie how sh1t you were as Town manager' is clearly an amusing line.
And if it was an home truth like that that set Roy off then Roy's let himself down.
And i like Roy, apart from when he was Town manager

Can you prove to me either way what the intention of that comment was? Because if you can't then it's just speculation.

Keane will be a wealthy man, but why would he want to have a tear up with an Ipswich fan and risk getting sacked over a bloke allegedly saying what he did. If it was vile stuff about his family then maybe i could understand the 'offering him out'. I've seen 2 other incidents where a fan has said stuff to Keane 1 at a United game in the car park where he didn't physically touch the bloke and the incident with the Arsenal fan where he defended himself when attacked but didn't throw any punches or kicks. He was pushing him off him after he had been headbutted.

Think you are playing the man rather than the incident.

It's a well known phrase "meet me outside/in the carpark" that means I'm gonna duff you up. It's obviously not going to happen, they're just words in the heat of the moment, but it's pretty obvious what it means. You must be the only person in the English-speaking world who thinks it means anything else.

back to my original point you have no idea what the intentions were. You may well be right but you can't prove it so it's all pie in the sky!

Uunfair that, Keane set out to badly injure Haaland, Beattie, Hunter and all the other old pros knew how far to push it as they did not wish to suffer the retribution that would be coming their way if they deliberately took someone out. Even in the rivalries that existed there was always a limit as you knew both guys revelled in it and would want that rivalry to continue. And no doubt when the heat had subsided there would be beers to share in the palyers lounge later. That whole social aspect of the game is long gone now.

....do me a favour. He was an absolutely top class player.

I personally never saw the talent. Football is a lot easier when you have a lot of time and space and everyone gave him space because they were afraid he'd take their leg off.

He obviously achieved a lot, but he's a perfect example of a player that would struggle with the way the sport is officiated now.

It wasn't a career ending challenge.

Those incidents.... by GlasgowBlue 24 Nov 2024 21:07
He didn't cripple Haaland. Haaland finished the match after Keane fouled him and played a midweek friendly for Norway. He then played the next league game.

Sure it was. It didn't effectively end Haaland's career, but that is a perfect example of the type of challenge that could end someone's career and he admitted that it was pre-meditated. There is no defense for what he did.
