Who's out there, will it be a loan?

Not a striker, but given we need to replace ogbene do we think Liverpool could move Ben Doak to us for some PL experience?

I’ve been thinking about that. The usual January break clause is in place so it’s possible.

Callum wilson.

Too injury prone... He also is a diving cheat.. wouldn't want him anywhere near our club.. the day Chambo picked him up by his neck, as he dived in the box to try and win a penalty was one of the best things I've ever seen at Portman Road!!

Whoever we go for, will have topped the charts of 'available' centre forwards by means of data analytics, as is the modern way.
Latte Lath looks a likely candidate because we tried late during the last window, but Middlebrough are in a playoff spot & on a decent run, so even though he hasn't been starting of late, they might be unlikely to let him go now.
Perhaps someone like Adebayo from Luton may figure highly in our thoughts?

This won't be a popular choice, but I still think Kieffer Moore can do a job in the PL with the right club.

Could we try again for Fotis Ioannidis?

He is totally out of form for his club at the moment, and to be honest, he isn't that prolific when he is in form. I like him and think he could do a job here, but at £15M-£25M, think its a risk we can't afford at this moment. Maybe again in the summer with survival.

Taiwo Awoniyi.

He'd be perfect - can't imagine he'd want to come here or Forest unless they get someone in.

They wanted Santiago Giminez in the summer and I'd have loved him here, but we've missed the boat there.

A permanent deal for Ferguson might be doable, he possibly needs to be the main man here to get going again. Him and Doig coming back from Italy might be good for when we sell Delap and Leif this summer.

I wonder if we could get Edon Zhegrova as a winger too as an upgrade on Burns and replace Ogbene. Could be good for Muric to have a team mate here!

Edide Nketiah isn't doing it for Palace and we've definitely been in before, wonder if they'd fancy shuffling their pack and doing a loan. We'll probably end up wheeling & dealing in this kind of fashion anyway.

They wouldn’t want to help out a fellow relegation candidate, surely?

Latte Lath and Ferguson are too. Wasn't Alan Lee when we got him? Sometimes those are the ideal candidate in January

I read that Forest want Ferguson on a permanent deal, which surely frees up Awoniyi?

Possibly depends who Brighton want to sell to. Or loan to.

Forest are possibly more of a threat to them and we would I theory be looking to take points off their rivals. Sickening and perverted as that thought is.

Out of form is a good buy at any time. Form is meaningless to the new club. It is whether they are the right player. A player who is doing well at a club will command a higher fee too.

I wouldn't be surprised with Ioannidis, Latte Lath or Ferguson. There are probably others on our radar too. We need to move quickly and get one in to avoid getting to the end of the window and it falling through. If Boro's issue was not having time to get a replacement, they should be open to an early deal.

How about a loan deal for:

Jemiah Umolu from Crystal Palace
Nathan Butler-Oyedeji from Arsenal

Two centre forwards who are scoring goals for the U21s but unlikely to get into the first team at their current clubs.

Celtic seem to have a wealth of forwards at the moment, would they be prepared to loan us Idah (I know, I know...difficult to accept given who his last club was.)

Not sure it's all about strikers. Yes we need a replacement for Hirst who looks like he's out for a while but my concern is also midfield. Morsy apart nobody can be totally relied upon tp partner him and should he be banned in the need couple of games who can be put in to replace him. We have too many who are inconsistent Morsy apart.

Why is everyone presuming it's a partner needed for Morsy.

Yes he's captain. No he doesn't let us down. But we are prem now. We need better than a Morsy. That's not a slight on him in anyway but he let's pretend he's gone from being a champ midfielder to league 1 to suddenly being top quality to play prem football every game.

a niche perspective

Bayo from Watford. I would let others comment on his actually play but in data terms looks like a reasonable profile, not in the future resale bucket at 27 but could perhaps do the leading line and work we ask of Hirst. Seems to have had a lot of clubs which asks a question on whether he actually settles.

Origi is currently stuck in AC Milan’s U23s and 29. I know he’s not prolific but might be the experience we need and us the lifeline he needs

Looking at the fixtures after next week I will say we us and Saints will be cut well adrfit. Can't imagine why anybody would want to sign for us tbh knowing they will be back in the championship next season. Too many signings in the summer undid all our previous hard work and momentum. McKenna (I appreciate injuries) needs to find his best 11 and fast if we are going to go down respectfully. I just hope we have an FA Cup run this year as I fear there will be little else to cheer about.

If we hadn't made the summer signings we did we'd be further adrift at the bottom than we are now.
