If you'd told me it would be 17 games til our first one-to-90 shellacking I'd have signed up for that. It could have been a lot worse. And I think most of us know both the wider context and the very specific situation in which we entered today.

Those that booed at 3-0 and half-time? Not having you, not after the two years we've had. Much more of that and you'll end up with the club you deserve, it's pretty safe to say that, and the rest of us will be there to judge you heavily for it.

A bad day, the first goal the most annoying for me because we shouldn't be done like that after 20-odd seconds, but if that's as bad as it gets this season we'll be ok. Everyone needs to stick together and have an appreciation of the context. It's got us a long way and will take us further.

Honestly can't stand some of the Johnny come lately fans. The booing at half time was so poor.

Lots leaving early.

People shouting about playing out from the back so clearly haven't watched all McKenna's teams.

Particularly bad for the back 6/7 rows of the West Stand, those seats were barely used for the best part of 20 years and now are full of bandwagon jumpers who leave early by the bucketload too.

“Lots left early”

And what’s wrong with that? People pay their money and can do as they please. People leave early all the time and always have done, not just games when we’re 4.0 down.

I left early today for the first time in years, which meant I got home early by 9pm in time to read this. Plenty to moan about today but leaving early the weekend before Christmas isn’t one of them.

Yep. Really sticks in the craw.

I was thinking today that people seeing today as an absolute shocker and dire don't know they're born. We still played more football in 90mins today than we ever saw during the last days of Mick etc.

Today we made mistakes and got punished by a better team. That's all.

Imagine only coming back to support the team when they got good again to then throw your hands up when they have a difficult game.

Indeed, I've seen some awful games down the years in League One and the Championship, wet windy midweek games against the likes of Grimsby, too many to mention the season we went down to League One, travelling to Accrington and seeing us lose more than once, Exeter, the list goes on. That was nothing like those games today.

I'm philosophical about today. I was frustrated and angry when the first goal went in because it looked like a clear offside, but it became quite clear that they were a cut above and the players they have are miles better than what we have, but no disgrace in that considering the amount of Saudi money has gone into them. They're a good side and if they can become more consistent they'll be challenging for Champions League spots.

Whilst I don't condone booing. Many of those will be the reason we were able to fund the signings that go the club to the prem.

"If you'd told me it would be 17 games til our first one-to-90 shellacking..."

Although only 2-0/1-0 defeats, the performances against Everton and Palace were little better than today.

We also lost 4-1 to West Ham in a game that was every bit as poor as some of the others

West Ham wasn’t as bad in the first half, if we’d got to half-time at 1-1, it’s potentially a different game.
But we conceded immediately before and after half-time and were very second best there after.

Do you know why Phillips isn’t playing? Pretty much our marquee signing and clearly very good but can’t get in the team.

Just to weigh in on the booing point to agree fully - anyone booing isn't a proper fan.

Absolutely we were very poor yesterday, but given the journey this team has been on, coupled with the players we were missing yesterday, you can't be getting on their backs.

FWIW the majority of the stadium stayed with the team and made sure the team were shown some appreciation on the final whistle.

But to be fair regarding Phillips been a long while since he has any form to speak off. Leeds I would say West ham was a disaster I wonder who else in the top flight wanted him.
Let's be honest it's not gone how we hoped with injuries suspension and form.I feel sorry for the lad like he has fallen of a cliff.

My “on this day” photo feed popped up with the 2018 game v Sheff Utd this morning. There are pictures of the ground with big gaps as we were five of 17,900. I can’t make every game, hence no season ticket, and got lucky picking up a couple of returns yesterday, but the clubs filled with tourists are depressing and I’d hate for us to become that.

That said Chickers I thought he looked good when he came on. Tried some fantastic balls that didn't always come off, but looked inventive during his little cameo. I thought I saw a flash of what he can do.
Be very interested to see how him and Cajuste play to together.

Without them the club wouldn't be where it is. Ashtons wise enough to know you'll have about 60% of supporters attending because they just want to follow the town. The other 40% of home crowd are there to watch town hopefully win the game and be successful. Hence the attendances when we weren't winning dropped by over half.

Is booing welcome not at all. But there's one way to stop that happening...

In the big boys league now. Its not just about playing fancy football.

I'm fed up of idiots not applying any context though. A few people around me were a complete embarrassment yesterday. Lets be clear, we have gone from the abyss (lowest point in the club's history?) to the Premier League in the space of three years and we are still often playing the crux of the side we had in L1. I am not sure what people expect really.

I thought we were poor yesterday but I also thought Newcastle were excellent. And realistically if a team of their calibre is 'at it' we will lose.

People need to see the long term picture. Will we go down? Most likely to be honest. But the club is in an amazing place to bounce back stronger if that does happen. Booing should be saved for p!sstakers that aren't trying a leg. If anyone genuinely thinks that about anyone in this team then they are dumb.

….”we’ll be ok”.

It’s unlikely to be as bad as it gets this month!

When are we allowed to get a bit fed up and dare I say “annoyed”?

There’s probably over 17,000 season ticket holders that would have expected to see their team win at least once by this stage but haven’t.

One of the most annoying things about football is seeing random fans telling others how they should feel and react to the performance (good or bad) of the team they pay their hard earned cash to support.

They can react and feel how they want; it can be commented upon by others if they want.

I’d understand being fed up if we were miles adrift and getting slammed every week but thought we all knew what the deal would be this season. If I overestimated some people then that’s on me.

….thats a tad patronising really.

The (minor) negativity yesterday was just a reaction to an individual poor performance not the season as a whole and definitely not a reflection of the last 3 years.

Pretty understandable and definitely not worth complaining about or questioning people’s support.

It’s a football crowd, not a WI meeting.

Agree about the first goal. Lots of criticism being aimed heavily at Muric for the 3rd goal, but it's the 1st goal that I just can't get my head round and ultimately which cost us the game from there on in. That's not down to injuries, lack of options or experience- it was down right poor play.
