I thought it was really good, it is tough to end a long running and well loved show in a manner that doesn't cause lots of issues - plus especially a show like this, which is a massive hitter on terrestrial TV and watched by all ages etc.....including people that aren't really fussed by it.
But hit most of the right notes, tied things up nicely and didn't focus on new or unimportant storylines and was just a nice watch |  |

A fantastic twist early doors set up the episode.

I've never seen the original three series but at the behest of my wife and daughter watched the 2019 Xmas special and enjoyed it, as did my 92 year old mother.
I watched the finale too, and really enjoyed it with its nice mix of pathos and humour.
I may have missed some of the in-jokes but the characters are fairly easy to pick up.
It did strike me that without Nessa, it wouldn't have been the same. And it is clearly very British, so I am not sure how much success it had outside the UK (West Ham, Little Chef etc). [Post edited 2 Jan 14:36]

It was watchable if a little predictable. Found the actors struggled to sometimes get into character, for example the 'speech' by Smithy at the end to Nessa sounded too much like James Corden doing one of his monologues on the Late Show. | |
