Toure's corner was a weird thing. The game itself was awful, and one of the lowest of low games I have ever been to in person. We grudgingly had a bit of hope something might come of that corner, and when Toure did the deed - it felt like me and the people around me collectively decided it was more fun to laugh rather than moan and groan.
So, I will always remember his corner fondly, as well as his coy look to the stands and the embarrassed wave as it was a welcome bit of comic relief in a game that was terrible in a terrible period of our history.
Game was hardly a classic but we won 4-1 AET, and as for the wider period we were top of the Championship at the time (3W and 1D) with the season before being the playoff one - so hardly like morale was at an all-time low at that specific time
Highlighting crass stupidity since sometime around 2010

I remember that well, and if I recall correctly it was a season where we needed a point or 2 to get automatic promotion. I do believe that miss played back over and over in my head during the close season.
You also don’t remember this very well, the miss was early and we went on to win the game so completely inconsequential in the grander scheme
Absolutely the worst miss I’ve ever seen live though

Are you thinking of the match where he threw his shirt into the crowd when he still needed it for extra time? I thought the kicking the corner flag was a different game but I'm not entirely sure.
Regarding the OP, I would like to nominate Jack Clarke's shocking attempt at goal from a pull-back when it was 0–0 against Everton at PR earlier in the season. I blame his enormous shorts.

Marlon Harewood missing an open goal when loan here in the late 90s- can’t remember who it was against but I seem to remember he hits the post from a few yards out with all the goal open.

Probably the bogeyteam nature of either Crewe, Oxford or Grimsby who, between them, seemed to stifle us in some way against the run of good form. It all mixes together after some time.
Same blurring together of memories can be said of the Larsen Toure corner, I swear it was a crap game where we were desperate for something by the end, and that capped it all off. Now, the shirt-throw incident was part of the Doncaster Rovers 4-1 result, I thought the botched corner was in the last minutes of a home game in the league that we ended up losing.
Either way, I am quite happy to be wrong about it as it means my excessive drinking during the dark years did exactly the job it was supposed to.

He definitely threw one out for a corner to whoever we were playing..........!
I once sent a goal kick out for a corner when trying to play it across the box for our keeper to control & take back into the box so he could kick it long from his hands. Old football rules.
One thing that I (mis)remember from a period of time under McCarthy is how terrible we were at throw ins, defensive and offensively. I forget who it was but there was a sequence of throw ins where we went from and advanced position, but crept backwards and ended up wither with a goal against us or a shot that went close.
I also remember how much I enjoyed Knudsen, but for a 'skilled' long throw in taker, he never looked like adding any danger with them. In fact, didn't he stop taking them if it was late in a game we were trying to get a goal because they took too long, or is this my head confusing it with wishing he didn't take throw ins when we were trailing?
Can’t remember the opposition but Danny Haynes once collected the ball from the edge of the penalty (defending a corner) and promptly run at the opposition half. Unfortunately he somehow ran off the pitch with the ball at his feet with no opposition player near him.

Edit- Scrap the other video with the silly music. This one of Harewood miss is much better.
& you have the added bonus of a penalty smashed harder then Delap's one against Fulham the other week
