We just let Saints pick us off it seems and didn’t have the belief or clinical mentality needed. If you’re going to blame Muric solely and not three or four players ahead of him during each goal, well then I’d suggest watching the replays.

It's a slow and uncreative midfield. Despite the result last week, at least Phillips threaded a few passes from midfield. He finds some gaps.

I really love Morsy but whereas in tge Championship that little pirouette move got him away from opponents, now it doesn't so he slows the whole team down.
Hutchinson has lost confidence. He had countless opportunities to attack his fullback. Several times he basically just ran into him or turned back and only when he is more direct does he look dangerous.
Philogenexand Jack Clarke just lightweight for this league and flogging Delap for 85 + minutes week in week out shows weak recruitment. Whatever the situation with both goals today players and crowd have no confidence in Muric, |  |

Signing lightweight attacking wingers/midfielders then having to go and get more in the window, to discover the best one is someone we already had in the building two years ago.
In the middle, it's clear Morsy is running out of legs, Cajuste can't play 90 mins, Phillips is earning feck knows what while getting splinters in his backside and we bring on Taylor who is enthusiastic, but limited at this level.
The keeper situation is a farce frankly. Injury aside, no defence can be confident if the man behind them is chopping and changing. |  |

Yes, absolutely. It matters not what nationality anyone is as far as I'm concerned, but I do believe we've missed out on quality, and value, through making virtually all of our signings from within the English system.
Enciso looks like a very promising signing. But if he does well for us, that essentially proves that Brighton have got some great players who can't even get in their side, through shrewd shopping in the overseas market.

Plus, we do far too much fannying around with the side to side passing, barely score from those positions yet still keep doing it. |  |

Had the feeling of the Millwall game in our Champ relegation season for me. Felt like the game was there to be won but didn't seem to have the confidence or belief we could actually do it then contrived to throw it away at the end.
Muric has to do better but you're right it's poor to be in a position where we're even discussing GK errors being the difference.
Said on another thread - Cajuste's a gem and the one midfielder who's looked consistently good at this level but once he tires we don't really have anything in there. Not been sold on Morsy in this league for a while to be honest and I think today summed it up for him unfortunately. |  |

Been saying on here for weeks we need to start Phillips instead of Morsy. We're paying all this money for him to be here, he's got the quality and I genuinely believe he just needs a run of games with Cajuste and he'll be good. Our reluctance to use him and drop Morsy is gonna kill us. We haven't hesitated with any of the other stalwarts but McK seems to be trying his best to not do it with SM.
Also, I'm confused by Godfrey. Guy is an absolute unit, we needed and still need physicality in the team and he's sitting on the bench. I get that TZ is back fit but Godfrey absolutely would've contributed today in an attacking sense, you'd feel. [Post edited 1 Feb 19:44]

....for many reasons, most of which are obvious and not really a surprise.
Looking at today in isolation, the thing that frustrated me the most was our inability to move the ball in any way that was not our normal "pattern of play".
There were a number of times today when a quick incisive attack was possible, but the "pattern" meant that we had to pass it across the back fours and into midfield, then back to the defence, wide to the full back, before eventually playing the ball that was available from the outset. This constantly leads to the opposition having more than enough time to get back into their shape and easily repel our "attacks"
We are so very predictable and as a result, as you say, easy to pick off and defend against.
As I said, taking today in isolation, that is a problem that KM has created and he needs to deal with. |  |
