Imagine spending £120m and being a worse team than last year. 17:09 - Feb 1 with 9019 viewsITFC_84

Should’ve just kept with the old guard and pocketed the £150m

A lot of money spent yet I don't really see an improvement from the Liverpool first match.

How much would it cost to release Muric? Worth every penny and sign a new keeper.

Will be our downfall, we’ve got it horribly wrong, and continue to follow suit in the January window with Philogene.

In no way are these bad footballers being bought in, but they’ve certainly cost a few quid, and have not improved the group anywhere near enough, if at all.

Saints spent far less than us this season and managed to beat us, something they failed to do last season. MA and McK has to answer for that. I want to see what cock and bull story McK comes up with today, Man City and Liverpool we expected results, but today was simply pathetic

Serious questions over our recruitment. Spent huge sums of money to go backwards.

How is it going backwards?

Are you saying the championship side was better than the current one?

I don’t think you can compare the two teams, the EPL is a whole different ball game to the Championship. So, that’s not exactly a level playing field.

In the interest of balance, of all 3 promoted teams we had by far the weakest squad and we're still a point off safety. We had to recruit. GK looks like a real fumble, and we're going to have to stick with Muric now out of necessity.

Coach these good players into an effective unit pls KMc.

Mate we’re all emotional.

But to insist that we should have kept the same team as last season is beyond mental.

Take a look at the form table. Or consider we just lost at home to the second-worst team in prem history. And didn’t create a meaningful chance in the second half.

Ironically the ones who have deemed most comfortable are Woolfenden, Burgess and Broadhead. All who McKenna has preferred to move aside at the first opportunity.

We had to strength the squad but, Delap aside, recruitment has not been good enough.

Yes. Replaced quality like-for-like and lost all team cohesion and spirit along the way. Delap and Cajuste are the only two who have objectively improved us.

Either recruitment or a lack of forming partnerships. We played well as a team as we developed partnerships over the past 2 years. We haven't developed that understanding and partnerships so far this season.

Broadhead has looked good

O'Shea has looked our best defender by some distance for most of this season. Woolf and Burgess have had moments, but so has Greaves. None have looked great
