Watson says Palmer passed medical and all but done but that's it for us tonight on 20:37 - Feb 3 by portmanking | Well, he's not gonna sign for a 1 year contract, is he? I'd love to be proved wrong, but even if we were in the Champ I'd be finding his signing a strange fit for us, so to do it as a Prem club? Hmm. |
3.5 is a long deal. I'm sure we could have got away with 1.5 and an option or 2.5. It's a show of confidence in him. McKenna clearly has some sort of plan. You seem determined to be as negative as possible.

Watson says Palmer passed medical and all but done but that's it for us tonight on 20:31 - Feb 3 by portmanking | Nah, we need more than a solid keeper. We needed one that'll help us retain possession and actually get our creative players into the game. Shot-stopping is a prerequisite (as Roy Keane attests). The GK position is the biggest screw up of our squad this season and we're just compounding it with Palmer, I'm afraid. But we needed a CM even more TBH, given that Morsy's energy bar is flashing red and Cajuste is a knee injury waiting to happen. 4 points from safety in reality, too. |

There's positivity and then there's blind faith. We couldn't beat a Southampton side that had Joe Aribo at centre half for almost the entire second half and had won once in 38 PL games. It just gives little encouragement for facing the likes of Villa, Spurs and United, does it?

Perhaps we need a keeper who can put the ball in the right area of the pitch, rather than being able to feed it into the back end of the defence for further distribution. It's not like we need to invite the press, opponents at this level do it anyway.

We've taken five points off those three teams in three games...

Be realistic, in so far we are in the bottom 3, probably have one of the lowest wage budgets and there hasn't exactly been loads of movement anywhere. I'm curious. |
...to go into the second half of the season with only two players in a position that is so central to our style is suicidal and will probably contribute considerably to our relegation.

We effectively have only two players in the midfield pivot too, since we clearly can't/won't rely on Phillips and JT is more of a number 8 and has been used more as a 10 lately.

Look at De Gea! When he first moved to the premier league everyone said he wasn't cut out for it, look where he ended up! Man u didn't miss out on a world stopper of a gk because they gave him time, hope we aren't making the mistake of shifting him too early!

A striker... I think when you let AAH go out on loan (sensible move) you have to replace him, especially when you take in to account Hirst's injury record. If we're persisting with 2 in the middle we need better.

Like who.... who have we missed out on? I'm not being awkward, I would've loved a striker but players in the mould of Delap/Hirst are few and far between. Let alone a decent one, who's available for transfer in January. It's the lack of realism that gets me, but it's often said, facts get in the way of a damn good whinge. [Post edited 3 Feb 20:58]

Ok, everyone knows your opinion by now. Who knows, maybe you're right. If he is confirmed, just don't be a prat and look for every possible excuse to undermine him and claim you were right. We've had enough of that kind of mentality on here over the past couple of seasons.

Well, for a realistic one, Kelechi Iheanacho is surely a better third choice or even second choice option than AAH and Hirst? Yet somehow he's ended up at Boro. Speaking of Boro, we had funds in the kitty to bid £20m for Latte-Lath in Aug/Sept, watched him bag a goal contribution every other game this season and not pulled the trigger on him a second time at a reduced fee!

Watson says Palmer passed medical and all but done but that's it for us tonight on 20:37 - Feb 3 by The_Flashing_Smile | Jesus F... you've posted you don't like this keeper about 20 times now. I think we get it! I asked you "Where are we going to loan a prem-standard goalkeeper from who isn't already playing in the prem?" and "If there's a keeper out there who is that good why would his team loan him to us?!" but you never did answer. |
I was just thinking the same thing - tedious isn’t it. Pretty much every thread I’ve looked at they’ve popped up posting the same thing. Looks like they have seen a lot of WBA as they seem to know Palmer very well.

Yep, and twice I've asked them who on earth would loan us a prem-ready goalkeeper who isn't already playing in the prem and twice they've ignored the question.
| Trust the process. Trust Phil. |

I would confidently bet that people suggesting Iheanacho haven't seen him play once since he left Leicester. It would have been a Leon Best type signing. I would prefer the no-one option.

....it's not my job to find our players, that's why we have a recruitment department. You can't honestly believe that there isn't a centre forward in world football that would improve our options that we could afford? It's basically a dereliction of duty not to have signed anyone.

Doesn't it speak volumes that the only interest in him came from the USA. It's also pretty known that Iheanacho has done eff all for a while now. It's not Football Manager, we can't just take a pint on these.
