3.5 is a long deal. I'm sure we could have got away with 1.5 and an option or 2.5. It's a show of confidence in him. McKenna clearly has some sort of plan.

Nah, we need more than a solid keeper. We needed one that'll help us retain possession and actually get our creative players into the game. Shot-stopping is a prerequisite (as Roy Keane attests). The GK position is the biggest screw up of our squad this season and we're just compounding it with Palmer, I'm afraid.
But we needed a CM even more TBH, given that Morsy's energy bar is flashing red and Cajuste is a knee injury waiting to happen.

There's positivity and then there's blind faith.
We couldn't beat a Southampton side that had Joe Aribo at centre half for almost the entire second half and had won once in 38 PL games. It just gives little encouragement for facing the likes of Villa, Spurs and United, does it? |  | | |

Perhaps we need a keeper who can put the ball in the right area of the pitch, rather than being able to feed it into the back end of the defence for further distribution. It's not like we need to invite the press, opponents at this level do it anyway. |  |

Be realistic, in so far we are in the bottom 3, probably have one of the lowest wage budgets and there hasn't exactly been loads of movement anywhere.

A striker... I think when you let AAH go out on loan (sensible move) you have to replace him, especially when you take in to account Hirst's injury record. If we're persisting with 2 in the middle we need better. | | | |

I'm not being awkward, I would've loved a striker but players in the mould of Delap/Hirst are few and far between.
Let alone a decent one, who's available for transfer in January.

Well, for a realistic one, Kelechi Iheanacho is surely a better third choice or even second choice option than AAH and Hirst? Yet somehow he's ended up at Boro.
Speaking of Boro, we had funds in the kitty to bid £20m for Latte-Lath in Aug/Sept, watched him bag a goal contribution every other game this season and not pulled the trigger on him a second time at a reduced fee! | | | |
