Agreed.

Timothy Dalton was the best, his Bond portrayal was ahead of its time.

I disagree, I found him wooden and totally uncharismatic. Though I accept it was a desire to get back to the original Bond character from the books.

it was inevitable when Amazon bought MGM and then bought half the rights to the Bond franchise, but importantly not full control as to timing of film releases and content control. Only a matter of time before Amazon gained full control.

Hasn’t been a good Bond movie for about 30 years. Not sure there’s much left to be harmed. Unless you think cartoonish generic action films are a thing worth saving.

And I thought Trump's latest ramblings were mad...

Booooooooooo

(Just kidding. But I do love Bond)

I think the whole Craig period was excellent

Nope it's Connery, Moore, Dalton, Lazenby, Brosnan then Craig doing whatever he was doing with the role, mostly being grumpy all the time it felt like that.

Part of that ordering is to do with scripts, Brosnan was a good Bond but lumbered with terrible scripts, Lazenby wasn't a great Bond but it was a great script.Dalton was underrated, Moore was classic 70s/early 80s.

Watched Diamonds are Forever on ITV4 last night, classic Bond :)

The charisma is there, it’s just not the whole persona. There is much more depth in the Dalton films.

Difficult to say, some people fear change, others embrace it.

It might be a fantastic move for the Bond franchise, especially as it needs to adjust to the modern era of how content is consumed

Name an Amazon owned media property, apart from Clarksons farm, they've made better by being involved with?

They spent nearly 20billion dollars in one year producing stuff for their tv service, surely there's more than one show theyve made thats good, right ?

Connery is the correct answer.

Maybe we need another Scot playing the rôle ? Frankie Boyle would bring something different and connect with a new audience...

I think Nicola has to be Moneypenny, just a constant barrage of the things Bond has to do to keep HR happy. Love interest ? Anything that moves.

I was lucky enough to have Dalton as 'my' Bond, ie the one who was in the spotlight when I was a kid. I was also reading the books at the time, and the two meshed together in my mind - he was just perfect. The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill were good films as well.

When someone eventually showed me some Roger Moore films they looked like Carry On style spoofs in comparison. I couldn't get too excited about Pierce Brosnan either, he was just too cheesy, although Goldeneye wasn't too bad I suppose.

I’d love to see a film based on that book.

Me too, it would work really well. It's got all the classic Bond elements (psychopathic baddie in a desert lair, sinister henchman, possibly untrustworthy glamorous love interest), but it's nicely grounded in a 1960s geopolitical backdrop that's actually quite believable.

I'm not sure if all if these are 'Prime originals' or just exclusive to Prime in the UK, but there is some good stuff:-

The Boys (and spin off Gen V)
Invincible
James May, Our Man In...

Expect a million 'spin offs' now like Star Wars and Marvel. I love JB and it has got painfully slow the last decade or so, but this is not going to go well.

I'd watch a spin off starring Ana de Armas.

Hell, it wouldn't even need much of a plot, to be honest!

The Daniel Craig films were okay, but a bit more Bourne than Bond anyway, the last one with Brosnan was absolutely woeful with race-swapping Koreans and super lasers, so I am not sure Amazon can really do much worse. As fun as the Roger Moore ones were, they haven't aged well, same with Connery. Old people will always prefer the originals, objectivity cannot compete with nostalgia.

Surprisingly the two Dalton ones stand up as decent 80s action movies, and they were hated and considered franchise killers at the time. Goldeneye holds up pretty well as well.

As one of the “old people”, I love the Daniel Craig ones and rate them higher than any of the others.

Oi, calm down Ryorry, poor old Daniel Craig is not just a piece of meat for you to lust after.

Its really not fair that us handsome men with chiseled bodies like Greek gods are just treated as eye candy by the female portions of society

Somewhere beyond these rugged good looks and stunning features there is a sensitive, emotional human being who deserves not to be judged purely by our outstanding beauty

Have an uppie for Bosch, which is a very fine show. The spin-off (Bosch Legacy) is also, perhaps surprisingly, very good as well.
