Notwithstanding all of that, there would actually have to be something there for them to find in the first place and in the 100+ year history of Portman Road how many instances of violence have there been? How many al-Qaeda shortlists is the Cobbold Stand on?

Honestly the whinging about all this is right up there with the stupidest things fans have complained about.
Portman Road isn't really set up to have the same system as the big grounds where the checkpoints are plenty, spread out and a good distance away from the gates to filter people through smoothly.
In the Cobbold it used to take ages as there was just one person per queue scanning everyone, they then increased the number of stewards to speed that up, but the queues to get in to the different turnstiles overlapped and got in a mess so they introduced barriers to keep them separate and let them snake round without crossing over.
Still people moan about it and complain why they can't just walk in. Maybe it's me, but if I'm going somewhere where I know there's going to be several thousand other people trying to enter the same venue at the same time, I either get there earlier if possible to avoid the worst of it, or just accept there'll be a bit of waiting time to get in.
No wonder the atmosphere's dead half the time when the crowd's full of total drips who turn up in full 'moan mode' before the game's even kicked off. |  |
